14 kids killed in Texas. I am at the bar and saw the news on T.V. Feel ill.
But... but... Texas is where everyone is supposed to have guns. It's these age limits that are the problem - we need to get guns in the hands of these children so they can defend themselves.
A cop apparently iced the shooter which of course means gud gay wit gum
I hope they cancel work tomorrow. Let's have a week of mourning.
nearly 10 years since sandy hook? all you’ve done in that time is try to teach kids to git gud at hiding from mass shooters. all of the rhetoric i see from the conservatives is basically ‘we need to train our kids to be better in their response’.
learn how to not die at school, kiddies.

Hmm we didn't have any lockdown drills this year. I think by law we need to have two a year. I can't wait to do lockdown drills with the ODD kids. I will get clipped because some kid wants to rap during a mass casualty event.
Speaking of mental defects...you know there is some chubby dude punching the air right now saying aloud "it wouldn't have gone down like that if I was there with my rifle"

I made it through not dying at school. Everybody else has to endure what I did. Thankfully there's been no changes in society since the dawn of our country so every hurdle is the same for everyone.uziq wrote:

At this rate, we'll be home all year.SuperJail Warden wrote:

the governor of texas has been more proactively concerned with keeping facemasks out of schools than guns.
And contraceptives out of the bodies of young girls.
Retarded 18 year-olds shouldn't be buying guns, definitely not multiple high-capacity machine-guns assault rifles urban deer rifles anti-British freedom sticks.
If six year olds could just learn to handle guns they can shoot learn to shoot down incoming bullets mid-flight.DesertFox- wrote:

Fuck Israel
just random tepid hot takes i've seen today:
the survivors of columbine are adults in their 40s and 50s now. their own children could have been victims of these recent shootings. multiple generations of trauma and unaddressed issues.
in current-day texas/america you are effectively forced to give birth to a child upon becoming pregnant ... who will then be sent to a school where they can be shot to death. the state cares more about forcing you to have a baby than it does about ensuring your kid can learn their ABCs without a dum-dum round putting their cortex on the whiteboard.

I used to work with little kids. The mental image of little Mexican kids running terrified...fucking yikes.
A comment I saw on Reddit went something like "Americans are so up their own ass that they value their hobby over the lives of small children." Person is not wrong. A lot of people are wrapped up in this self image of soldier badass and refuse to develop an identity outside of guns. I assume many are secretly gay too.
In other interesting news, Reddit found Adam Lanza's YouTube channel a few months ago. Somebody stumbled across it meanwhile the FBI didn't find it. Weaponized autism

I have some more thoughts about all of this as a sanitation worker who has kids who go to school. There is one very common thing I noticed about mass shootings...I watch a lot of True Crime documentaries. Time and again mass shooters with a long list of obvious mental health struggles are given guns or access to guns because their parents think shooting as a hobby will help them bond with their troubled kid. Mind blowing how many people make this mistake over and over again. That's gun culture for you though. It is part of rural/red state/macho crap and innocent people pay for it.

american conservatives are like 'we need to send cutting-edge AA systems, howitzers, cruise missiles and hundreds of thousands of anti-tank armaments to the volunteers of ukraine. this is the only way they will not get steamrolled by the russian army'.
then they're also like 'we need to let johnny appleseed keep a cabinet of 9mm pistols to prevent tyranny from the state. a citizenry with small arms will repel a tyrannous force'.

They think there is going to be a "day of the rope" situation where they crush the liberals who surrender without a fight because they are weak and don't have guns.
First victim identified
That sucks but the important thing is that fat guys with guns can feel safe while stuffing their face with lasagna.
The father of one of the children killed in Tuesday's school shooting has identified his daughter as 10-year-old Amerie Jo Garza.
Angel Garza said on Facebook early Wednesday morning that his daughter had been killed in the shooting at her elementary school.
"Thank you everyone for the prayers and help trying to find my baby. She’s been found. My little love is now flying high with the angels above. Please don’t take a second for granted. Hug your family. Tell them you love them. I love you Amerie jo. Watch over your baby brother for me," said the father.
The post came hours after Angel's original post asking for help in finding the girl in the wake of the shooting. "I don’t ask for much or hardly even post on here but please It’s been 7 hours and I still haven’t heard anything on my love. 💔 Please fb help me find my daughter."

Most right wing leaning people I know say don't even wanna send shit to Ukraine and think America should stay out of it which I actually agree with.uziq wrote:

But small arms fire is vital to winning wars especially when it comes to the urban and guerilla warfare shit. We got our asses kicked by the Taliban and they mostly just had IEDs and old ak47s and shit. I saw a video of old Ukrainian dudes getting trained how to use M4's and shit. Imagine if the populace was already armed and well trained like a lot of Americans are.
Good luck with a land invasion on America. U gonna have to get thru the military and then the general public of rednecks and gangsters strapped up.
Shits the wild west. When shit hits the fan u better know how to defend yourself
But on topic if a teacher was armed in that school they could have shot that dude way faster

gang shit
*loud coughing*well trained like a lot of Americans are
I'm also not sure I agree with the idea that Americans would put up a unified front without collaborators or warlords with their own agendas. This is also putting aside the fact that Alabama Joe and his shotgun doesn't figure much into nuclear deterrence.
"The wild west," "fan-hitting shit" rhetoric is also a little cringe. Conservative kids should grow out of that by their mid 20s.
What happens if an armed teacher decides they're going to shoot up some kids? If only the principal had a gun. Maybe the solution is to arm JROTC and make them take turns on sniper tower duty. Always three so that in case one goes rogue, the other two can take it out.
Goddamnit thats where I stopped too and wanted to comment.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

recent, related screencap of old commentary from the twitter
reply in in-thread:
The training would have to be specially designed because you're talking about non-professionals with guns in a building full of panicked children AND those "specially trained people" will be very likely facing a CHILD with a gun who is killing other children 2/
We don't train soldiers for that. We don't train cops for that. So we're going to need special training, including not just the mechanics and theory of combat arms, but the psychology of killing a CHILD in an active shooter simulation. 3/
reply in in-thread:
The same teachers being smeared as groomers by the GOP they also want to arm. Cognitive dissonance isn't just a river in Egypt...
I've seen some frightening stuff in and out of the range (I again prefer hanging around the archery area), and heard stories about some pretty worrying things done by the so-called "professionals" on military bases. We've all seen the one video of the cop shooting himself in the leg/foot while demonstrating gun safety to a classroom, right?pirana6 wrote:

The school shooter exchanged fire with the armed school security guard. He then retreated into a classroom where he barricaded himself in and committed the killings. He also shot two cops when they breached the room to take him out.
The Buffalo shooter was hit by armed security but his body armor did its job.
Don't even get me started on civil war and insurgency.

I don't expect any new laws to be passed to address anything. But this attack feels different in a weird way. The young teachers were very proud of what they were doing. They took a lot of high definition photos of them teaching the kids in a room where the massacre took place. One of the pictures was from just hours before. I've never seen such humanizing photos of mass shooting victims.
It could just me feeling weird since this is my natural environment.
