I am putting together the final lesson plan now. I watched a video that explained what LGBT stands for and I have come to the conclusion that this actually isn't appropriate for school.
I didn't pick this video. A group member did. And now that I reviewed it and took in the breadth of what I did...this has to be stopped. Somebody must stop this. God must stop this.

I had this (short) talk today with someone. They were happy that the uhaul people were arrested, but then slid into a talk about some caveat that they had about "grooming from gay activists." A book was vaguely cited without title (most likely Gender Queer, as that's coming up in all the front page rags), which people were complaining had adult-on-child porn. Well yeah, I agreed such a thing would definitely be inappropriate, with the caveat of if true. But looking up the controversy, the book is apparently high school level, reviewed by students, staff, and parents, isn't present in middle or grade school, and doesn't have adult-on-child porn? "Groomers" occupies a similar space as "CRT," as an excuse for right-wing and religious media come down hard on vulnerable groups. All this stuff about homosexuals all being pedophiles and how the gay agenda is up to its ears in groomers is IMO unethically exploitative of people who've experienced molestation traumas and actual "grooming" during childhood. A person in a conversation questioning the authenticity of a lot of this blog-level sensationalism finds themselves put in the position where a listener thinks you're invalidating their experiences.

Why are you bringing up Uvalde? The Buffalo shooting was a racially motivated act by a self-avowed white supremacist. Where's the picture above from (apart from slate), do you even know? On that, a lot of stuff that gets swapped around social media and made by corporations like Fox have been photoshopped or deliberately miscaptioned.
