Sounds interesting, if I had an account I could read it.

pretty sure every news org has suspended operations there considering they forced through a new law that gives 7 years in prison for bad mouthing the war effort.
Its 15 years.
7 years for protesting the war. my bad.

interestingly the tory party under priti patel have pushed through an anti-protest bill too. you can be found in breach of the law if you’re even ‘making noise’ enough to interrupt the peace. protests being a notable low-volume activity.

maximum sentence: 10 years.

but hey it’s what lickspittle culture war ‘traditional values’ people like you want, isn’t it? BLM are ruining civilisation!

I'd send Priti Patel back home for a start.

ehm you do know her overwhelmingly white male peers had to sign that horrific bill through parliament, right? it got a comfortable majority in a comfortably white male majority party.

you can thank the pleasure-seeking hipsters of bristol for protesting it and being sent to prison for their consciences, by the way. by far the biggest outcry about the proposed bill was the bristol police station fracas.

i assume most smug little englander daily mail types were quietly fine with the bill because it rode through parliament on waves of tory fearmongering about BLM and ‘critical race theory’. people like you think strict ‘anti protesting’ laws are necessary because they protect statues of white slavers and prevent those mythical ‘burned down businesses’.

too bad what it really does is make us look as censorious and draconian as fucking russia. great job!

Nope I've never supported that change to the law.

Its probably Johnson adopting Putinism.

it’s weird how you recycle the talking points of the right-wing but then disavow and distance yourself from their consequences or real-world implications, isn’t it?

all summer you were making out like the BLM movement was dangerous, violent, given to crime (it overwhelmingly wasn’t). then some opportunistic tories push through some anti-protest legislation on the back of this overheated, hysterical rhetoric … and suddenly you say ‘well that’s just not cricket’.

then the same right-wing lickspittles like to feel magnanimous and smug over the illiberality of regimes in places like russia. when they’re given their vocal support to much worse legislation in their own countries. doesn’t matter i suppose as long as all the protestors falling foul of such measures are black or against the status quo.

whoosh! over your head.

I think the issue is you can only hold one idea in your head at a time.

BLM Can be dangerous, violent, anti-democratic without needing the response of making all protest illegal.

The second is a different issue, the tories are also anti-democratic but aiding Ukraine is in everyone's interest so their anti-democratic instincts come second.

no, i have always had no problem in acknowledging small outbreaks of violence or disorder at protests, whilst maintaining that it does not invalidate the political project or point of their protest.

you are dishonest as fuck, seriously. what a greasy character. throughout the entire discussion i linked you hard data, concrete evidence, that 99% of BLM protests were absolutely incident-free. and still you kept repeating the easy tabloid slanders that it was violent, that they wanted to ruin society, that they weren't going to stop at peaceful protests, etc, etc. hysteria.

so it's clearly YOU that can't admit that BLM (a) is peaceful and valid, though (b) in a very tiny minority of instances, violence or disorder might break out. that's been YOU all along.

Musk can just take a helicopter, literally above traffic.

Billionaires can just glitch-run through challenges that affect normal players.

I got the number I have now in 2008. I still get text from people looking for the old number owner.

I get the occasional, legit wrong number. Some spam.

I think at one point I got a message from some lady arranging a cookout or a playdate for her kids with some other person's kids (something like that), asking for date confirmation or who's going to pick up when. I noticed the message way too late to tell them that I'm not that other person, so didn't reply. Never got an "oops, sorry" follow-up. Might have mentioned all this at some point before, but I still wonder sometimes if my inattentiveness started a neighborhood feud (you ghosted me!), or if it was all a ploy to lure me into texting back for some scam.

Our phone number was one digit different from the local taxi company, it was tempting to say "be there in five" but of course we always told them it was the wrong number.
In a rented house a senile woman used to phone us up - "Sorry you have the wrong number" "No YOU have the wrong telephone", multiple times a day.

i get a few mistaken calls a month because i'm first in everyone's phonebook, Aa-. so if they pocket-call someone, chances are it's me, or their pet aardvarck, or something.

i haven't picked up the phone to a cold call or unknown number in years, anyway. if i don't have their contact details saved, there's very little chance the call is actually important.

The food is awful. Mostly at least. The potatoe and meat was good. Everything else is yuck.

I think Irish food is like the worst in Europe. I rather have Italian food.

how many european cuisines have you tried? lmao. new jersey does not do 'european' cuisine, macbeth.

irish cuisine isn't significantly different from many northern european cuisines, less the herrings and schnapps. what makes it worse than polish? or even hungarian?

I don't live in Idaho. I live in ground zero for European immigration. I have eaten plenty of food from people who actually lived in Europe.

Polish food is good. Better than whatever the Irish are up to at least.

Irish selection is varied. Asian, African, from all over Europe, whatever. Fish, shellfish, veggies, bread, cheese, ThE pOtAtO, plenty of new takes in recent decades as far as I'm aware. There's a lot more to eat in a lot of countries than old timey traditional peasant fare. I don't trust school events to fairly represent overseas cultures. They can't even get indigenous people right.

Just have a beef stew.

and where am i pronouncing on mexican food, and ranking it in the hierarchy of world cuisines? i'm not. my exposure to mexican cuisine has been through a few small family-owned restaurants and a helluva lot of 'decent' imitations and adaptations.

you seem to think living in new jersey around 3rd or 4th generation immigrants (are there irish in NJ? ok, didn't know) makes you an expert on 'european cuisine'. lmao. you do know all those scenes about italian food/culture and the 'old country' in the sopranos were satire, right? it has about as much relation to actual cucina povera as a taco-bell has to acapulco.

Don't tell me about foreign food. You have never been to Africa. How could you possibly know how how African food blah blah blah

I was talking to a lady whose in laws were straight up from Ireland. The joke about Irish food among their family is "the Irish cookbook is only a few pages". I will tell her that she doesn't know what she is talking about because she never walked around Belfast. I will tell her to tell her husband who prefers Italian food that he is not even really Irish if he never lived 46 years in Ireland.

Learning how to make a smaller selection of meals well is probably sound advice. Aren't cooking shows always ragging on restaurants for having too big a menu?

Were you not noticing a self-deprecatory tone? Are her in-laws professional chefs? Being from a country probably doesn't by default make you an instant expert on what all there is to eat if you limit yourself to your family's 300yo boiled meat method.
