let’s not get confused. the only two people who try to use ‘lol go take some drugs’ as an insult is you and dilbert. i don’t see how i’m ‘sticking the knife’ into anyone by raising the point that everyone on this forum seems to be on drugs lately. i’m not the one throwing it around like a character flaw or moral weakness. /shrug

All the stuff I wrote is still there. Check for me and then tell me if I specifically called Ukraine (with a decently low spot on the terrain ruggedness index) an impregnable, mountainous fortress. Stir fry is a great and easy way to use up your vegetables and leftovers, and get used to seeing raw chicken - associating its looks and the amazing, evolving smell of the dish as a whole with a healthy, tasty meal. Superior in every aspect to a TV dinner, and well worth the extra few minutes. The next time you have to deal with a depressing fight between your students, treat yourself that night.

The major cities is where the heaviest fighting will be. The Russians will need to clear every basement, sewer, tunnel, etc. A guy with a RPK, and a good firing position can nullify a lot of advantages. Look how hard it was to remove ISIS from Mosul. Kiev is more than twice as large. They are also getting the best weapons available, foreign volunteers, intelligence, etc. The city will be a fortress even if it is leveled by artillery first.

and yes, i did read your post. you suggested it would involve a different type of warfare to wide open plains. the history of (eastern) ukraine is literally one of successive waves of invasion. that’s because … it’s a wide open plain, and is very hard to defend. lol.
no surprises that it will come down to large city sieges. it’ll be grozny or sarajevo/srebrenica, but scaled up to a truly horrifying dimension.

moderation is key. i’ve never been fanatical about any point of good health. eat well, exercise, indulge in moderation. pretty simple principles. it’s okay to have cheat days or weekends off. but you’ve gotta do the good work for the long boring stretches of normal time.
a grown adult who subsists on microwave meals and popsicles has the exact same sort of adjustment problem to ‘adulting’ as a person whose life is off the rails on drugs. no self-control, no discipline, no sense of proportion and moderation. probably never bothered to acquire basic life skills and achieve independence. etc.
all this stuff seems commonsensical. it’s not really contradictory to say that you can enjoy some drugs and also watch your waistline. joggers drink alcohol.

with the help of american engineers in the stalinist era, donbass became the industrial crucible of the entire soviet union. all started by two brits trying to fend off napoleon and make it rich.
