The Gameboy Color still works.

I was at a friend's house and he showed me his Gameboy color with Pokemon Red in it. Still works too. Fine Japanese engineering.

i saw on instagram the other day some all-black like modern recreation of a game boy colour. also playing a pokémon game. the device looked slick. all black. slimmer than the original GBC. i wonder what it is …

e: it’s an analogue pocket, apparently.

Analogue is creating a dock for the Pocket that will allow you to output the signal to your television or computer monitor to play your classic portable games at home, complete with support for wireless Bluetooth controllers from 8BitDo or wired USB controllers. The Analogue Dock will be a separate accessory, although Taber says you won’t have to break the bank to get one.

I bought this thing off of Amazon that looked like a PSP but didn't have any markings. I think it was $20. It was an emulator capable of playing NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, and probably other stuff if i tried them. Super cool though I didn't use it much.

that one's not an emulator, apparently, although all the previous things by that company have had the firmware to emulate stuff.

i like the idea of replaying all my childhood classics on an upgraded device. apparently gameboy modding is huge in the 'community' but i dgaf about that. i am literally the target consumer for devices like the above: too lazy but aimlessly nostalgic in a way that means i'll pay an exorbitant fee it.

(not actually intending to buy one but, you know ...)

I went through a phase of playing old games on a raspberry pi. It was fun. Just talking about it here makes me want to fire it back up. Might connect it this weekend and play some pilot wings.

Playing Kaiserreich, a HOI4 mod set in the timeline where Germany wins World War 1 and Newbie becomes head coach of BYU's Men Basketball team. The war kicked off starting with a declaration of war by France against Germany. It has snowballed from there with other great powers trying to jump me.

We are militarily larger than all of the other factions combined so we should have this if we focus ourselves. We took out France and are now working on finishing the Italian communist and invading the U.K.
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1836907937719643713/8A1842B08C4826FFFE737140D40A160714EF53BD/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
If we can't make it over the channel, I will play defense and in the west while focusing on finishing off a weak Russia. They are strgguling fighting off my eastern European allies. Once I shift the German Army east we should be able to roll them.
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1836907937719646693/A4459D13DB3B386C027C309D2208D58D3723B7C8/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
I have been very careful to crush any communist alliances and to support my allies. So I have a huge faction in Europe. The Austrian usually join the Germans in the war which would add hundreds of more units for any front.
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1836907937719644692/071582FB93D90826E2CC09BE9E0BD4DA01094993/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
Our economy is roaring and both of the remaining U.S. factions are anti-communist. We supported the Federal army against the communist too.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Mormon country was somewhere in one of Paradox's files.

You should try a mod that gives you wizard divisions.

Named the faction I made NATO because NATO is the real fascist. Conquered Japan and am now working on China. At least I was until the communist Chinese declared war on China and brought the Soviet Union into two wars: The Chinese Civil War and the Sino-American War. So I am fighting the Soviet Union and China in the east while they both fight each other. Germany meanwhile is making steady progress in the west. I destroyed 250,000 Soviets and tied up countless resources so the Germans have no excuse. Europe is about to get interesting since Latin America joined the allies. In the Axis-Allies War, I will probably side with the Allies. I don't want to fight a Germany bloated with Allied and Comintern territory.

The Axis are taking a beating. If I wasn't at war with the Soviet Union, they would have lost the war. I sent an advisor to Germany to see what was going on and their frontline with the Soviets is pretty much frozen since both sides are exhausted. Single divisions on the front. Italy is about to capitulate. Germany caught a break when Vichy France joined the war and added a ton of divisions. Fighting the Soviets in the east is a drag. Have to build a lot of supply depots to keep offensives going. I think I am winning. I just have to hope the Axis holds on.

Unasked for advice: take what railroads you can find and camp a division on your advance with rail artillery support. Using your better supply, poke out and nerf-hammer any Soviet units trying to flank around your spearhead. Cut off the major industrial areas from their western front if they've been moved east. Don't break them entirely, though. Stab ze Germans in the back while they're weakened.

Hope you got plenty of minelaying subs. Commerce raiding is OP.

Thanks for that tip +1

I should invade the Axis since they are weak and I can take the time to build my supply lines in east. The only thing that makes me not want to do that is the peace conference system. I could easily land enough troops to storm France and Germany but I won't be able to get them in a conference since the Soviet Union and U.K. have so much war score. The war score system needs change. Casualties shouldn't count for as much as they are. Your current manpower should have more weight than your casualty numbers.

War score is pretty annoying to deal with. What the game values and what gets the job done doesn't always line up. There are mods that address that I think, and iirc at least one TC that totally revamps that stuff.

HoI is a lot like Mount & Blade in that you're really cutting yourself off from some cool stuff if you don't take at least some time to explore mods. I get that you're achievement hunting though. Side note, I hate how some games keep stacking on more and more achievements per patch. Literally losing % progress on 100%ing a thing, pass.

I like Paradox stacking new achievements. I never 100% anything. Not my health and relationships...definitely not my game!

This is the end of the campaign. I jumped the Axis like you said. Dropped a bunch of amphibious tanks on Germany and easily capitulated them. As a reward for breaking the stalemate, I was given the Germany I occupied while the Allies got literally everything else.
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1840288352687108626/C596A89C70DF6B20190977C51C5D7F4AA69AFB3E/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
Those casualties on their side counted for more than my roaring economy, huge army, etc. I declared war on Britain just to see if all of the little nations would join the Allies and they did. I defeated Japan, the Soviet Union, and China but am still weaker than the allies. Got to love it.

War score discussion on paradox and steam forums is usually between outright loathing to making excuses for paradox.

excerpt:

War score is horrendously unbalanced
So just finished the 2nd world war as Soviet Union. I made Germany, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Hungary, and Slovakia all capitulate under my direct attacks. The allies were unable to hold any part of Europe and ultimately Lost Africa too. The Americans tried to rush Japan and lost to me anyway.

In the end, when the warscore was being used to decide what I could ask for in land, it turns out it's exceptionally unbalanced. I wasn't even able to ask for the original Polish territories but on the next turn the AI gave the entirety of Germany to Greece, who did almost nothing in their war except hold out. From there I ended up being forced to give up 90% of the Europe I had conquered, knowing I participated more than any other country doing so, yet I couldn't get Turkey but China could take it all, and I couldn't get anything past Poland after about 10 turns of watching the AI make exceptional claims to land that I supposedly did not have the score for.

How is this screwed up -.-
zacharyb has Hearts of Iron IV Jun 10, 2016 @ 4:38pm
It's not broken there are certain rules you have to abide by, you can also wait your turn and get extra points, that way you can take even more stuff. In my game as Spain I took pretty much all of Germany, Italy, and Japan.

There are things you can do, it's just sometimes fiddly or immersion breaking. HoI4 is one of those games that doesn't explain a whole lot up front. The hours put into understanding everything can amount to a small, third-party college course.

Someone bought the rights and made him pay a SHIT ton to publish a sequel because they didn't know anything about the gaming industry. He didn't have that money and time went by until they negotiated a deal.

Prompted by the popularity of the Microsoft releases, Sommerville created a sequel, Chip's Challenge 2, in 1999. Sommerville was unable to release it independently, as the trademark was owned by Bridgestone Multimedia Group. Bridgestone, a Christian publishing company, had purchased Epyx's assets when that company folded in order to acquire Bible software produced by the company. Bridgestone had little experience with the video game industry, and required that Sommerville pay a six-figure fee for the right to publish the game, which was not consistent with industry norms. Sommerville resumed negotiations in 2010 and, after five years, Bridgestone and Sommerville's company Niffler released Chip's Challenge 2 via Steam on May 28, 2015, alongside a Steam release of the original game and a level editor.
