Well I reckon this is the first time frequency is so high. Chances are some people are receiving 4 to 5 shots of some covid vaccines in the span of about a year. It's a bit different from a once yearly flu shot or dtp, hepatitis, bmr, yellow fever vaccinations that usually need only one shot for a duration of 5-10 years. Granted those were also vector based, most are now mrna which as you say works differently.

Unarguably it's still preferable to just take the shot no matter, but I wonder if these stimuli remain as effective after such frequent application.
its more to do with total exposure thats why you don't need it as much or only need a booster if youre going to a high risk environment. the main
problem with covid that people keep forgetting is that it has an extremely high rate of transmission like no other disease we have seen, particularly with omnicron.

i am actually amazed there are still a few covid 0 countries/regions still tbh.

Flu vacc has something like 50-60% efficacy and drops 5-10% per month. total efficacy can drop to 14% within 6 months to a year...

yes and 5G could give us cancer, too. i'm sure absolutely nobody researched this before approving the vaccines.
Completely unrelated but go off

Israeli study shows five-fold antibody rise with fourth COVID jab
Israeli study finds fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose boosts antibodies five-fold, PM says, citing preliminary findings

the problem isn't the vaccine tech, it's that the antibody instructions they're coded with are now 2 years out of date, essentially addressing a protein structure from 2019.
Well yes and the third booster shot increased antibody count multifold as well. Like 30x I believe. But it's evidently not durable. Also, if the third shot increases 30 times and the fourth 5 times, that doesn't sound like great succes to me.

Good thing conservatives don't know this

it's not durable ... because the virus has changed. not because the underlying technology is bad.

the mRNA vaccines on the market today have instructions to produce antibodies for the ancestral strain of covid-19.

i'm going off because you don't seem to grasp this. covid has hopped between like 300,000,000 people since those vaccines were designed.

Also, if the third shot increases 30 times and the fourth 5 times, that doesn't sound like great succes to me.
it's all to do with the number of antibodies already present in the target group. if you're being vaccinated 4x in a year, it's not like you're returning to baseline every 3 months.

not to mention covid is probably the most mutated virus that humanity has faced since genomic testing. im actually surprised the original vaccines still work quite well, just get a few extra shots and you're all g.

all of the coronaviruses and rhinoviruses grouped under 'common cold' are highly mutative. it's just that over the long course of their evolution alongside humans/animals, they've become considerably less lethal and highly transmissible (which is to say, effectively, that group herd-immunity to them has increased, as well). not to say that covid-19 is predestined to follow this path, but there is definitely a pattern.

we have indeed never been able to vaccinate for those common cold-grouped illnesses. though there hasn't quite been the pressing human need to do so, relative to the immense r&d costs of such an enterprise.

the breakthrough of mRNA should change disease treatment forever. it's a total game changer. up there with CRISPR cas-9 tbh.

Schools have collapsed. Teacher shortages before the pandemic have been made worse. Support staff system has collapsed. Can't compete with Amazon and Walmart wages.

No enough bodies to fullfil basic functions. The years (!) of being out of school has left a lot of kids barely socialized. Teacher morale is low. Being the mask police and a political target while the kids run roughshod over an understaffed system...not good. A lot of people sick or out sick.

Nothing good on the horizon.

Remember though, the one time a Democrat said they wouldn't trust a Trump snake oil is akin to them standing united against the COVID-19 vaccines. It's the liberals' fault for standing in his way.

This is the monolithic deflection I've been hearing from conservatives, while their comrades suffer thanks to inaction or outright enbracement of pandemic conspiracy by Republicans. Meanwhile, I have never seen a bumper sticker about the scamdemic on the same car sporting a Biden/Harris sticker.

To my knowledge, people don't usually get punched up here in liberalsville for wearing a "face diaper."

I don't follow tennis but the drama from the nvodjdjk guy is interesting. He sounds like a real piece of shit.

Also Serbians... nothing good has ever come from that place. Serbians sided with the Nazi invaders. Not a well known fact. Only other country than Germany who did the wrong thing in two World Wars.

it was a bit more (a lot more) complicated than saying the serbians 'sided with the nazis'. a lot of serbs were killed by nazis. even more serbs were killed by officially nazi-supporting croats (under the catholic banner, natch).

your last sentence is so bizarre and i can't even be bothered.

Serbian nationalists spent more time ethnically cleansing other Slavs than they fought Nazi occupation. The communist were the ones putting up a real resistance.

And when people make a recovery in spite of non-medical intervention, they credit the snake oil. Like grow the heck up, the people who spun you guys like a top have mostly all had vaccines.

Ivermectin is also used for humans to treat lice and stuff. It's an antiparasitic. Wiki summarizes it brutally and briefly:

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, laboratory research suggested ivermectin might have a role in preventing or treating COVID-19.[89] Online information campaigns and advocacy boosted the drug's profile and while scientists largely remained sceptical, some nations adopted ivermectin as part of their pandemic-control efforts. Some people, desperate to use ivermectin, took veterinary preparations leading to shortages of supplies of ivermectin for animal treatment — the FDA tweeted "You are not a horse" to draw attention to the issue.[90]

Subsequent research failed to confirm the utility of ivermectin for COVID-19,[91] and in 2021 it emerged that much of the research finding benefit was faulty, misleading, or fraudulent.[92][93]

And what did I supposedly say?

Omicron has a lower percentage hospitalisation rate, but is more infectious so hospitalisation is up.

What will the next variant do I wonder.

Five-fold what though? It doesn't say.

i suggest you go and re-read your posts.

they included phrases like ‘as we well know’ followed by utter tosh - as you don’t know, you clearly aren’t reading the studies - like ‘it normally takes a week to get to serious illness and death’.

to which i replied that omicron hospital visits are actually 70% shorter than previous variants.

now look at what a study of 70,000 americans has confirmed.

being wrong is tough, i know, particularly so for mommy-coddled little egrets who never flew the nest and never had to meet bullying crows to tell them so.

i’d hazard a bet that it will probably continue down the line of development that’s better adapted for upper respiratory infection and hence much improved transmissibility.

you do understand the principles of natural selection, i take it??

The kids ARE damaged at this point, Covid Generation will be like the Great Depression kids - 50 years from now they'll be lecturing the grandkids about it.

A group of more than 50 Democratic lawmakers led by Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) unveiled legislation on Wednesday to send a package of three N95 masks to every American as the country faces a surge of Covid-19 cases driven by the Omicron variant.

The legislation would aim to send people the high-quality masks to replace the inferior cloth masks that many Americans are still wearing despite one recent study that said cloth masks may not be effective at protecting against the Omicron variant.

The bill would put $5 billion toward boosting manufacturing and distribution of the masks and would use the U.S. Postal Service to deliver them to Americans. Masks would also be distributed at designated pickup locations including schools and public-transit stations.

Something we should have done 2 years ago.

The National Review people are of course totally against this since they won't wear "face diapers." If this passed people would make a show of burning the face mask. Give it to someone else? No, you must throw it away and post it to Facebook. "Why doesn't anyone like my post?"

Yeah, at that point if this comes to fruition, a lot of that is going to be chucked in the trash by people who wouldn't be caught dead in a mask.

crazy that you're sending people 3x masks now, 2.5 years into a full-blown lethal pandemic.

top-rated double/triple cover-design masks are available in korea for about $2-3 for a pack of 10. people buy them on a weekly basis. almost everyone carries spares on their person or in their bag, or keeps them at the office, near the exit doors, etc.

3 masks should really last someone about a week, maximum. lmao.

Grocery stores have the mask for sale at checkout. You can order mask on Amazon just fine. We should have done the send everyone a mask thing years ago.

But like I said right wingers would have made a show of trashing the mask. The mask would just be a mask subsidy for people already masking up.

You might still have to shop around to find masks here sometimes. Like alcohol and hand sanitizer, not always in stock. But not as bad as it was. I get mine by the 50x box at the local restaurant supply, plus some washable cloths ones for a second layer.

Confidence has ebbed and flowed. For awhile I was seeing less masks, now I'm seeing more. Last time I was at the grocery store, I don't think I saw a single maskless face, although a few were still below noses or under chins. Annoying, that. The "thought" does not count in this case.

Who has trouble being heard through a mask? Speak up. Don't lean into me and lower it. Urgh.
