Which of us moved to an exclusively coal fired country with winters like this?

winters like 1953? i'm not sure about that one, dilbert.

do you need to be reminded that australia's per capita co2 emissions are higher than korea's, or what? or that australia's total emissions are also world-toppingly bad, even more so considering the tiny human population which are responsible for so much pollution? i think you need a new tree to bark up. my being temporary resident in a country with coal power stations for 2 years does not make it my moral responsibility, LMAO. my own energy consumption here is pretty modest, considering i'm a freelancer staying in 1-bedroom studio apartments, taking public transport every day and working in public spaces. i'm not exactly heating or air conditioning a family home, year-round, am i?

how come your entire family relocated so many times, though, if air travel is Bad? i thought immigration to places with a different way of life was also Bad? it's weird how your form of economic migration is fine but an indian wanting to be a taxi driver is an object of universal derision and perpetual suspicion, isn't it? just think, you and your family were once an oil sheikh's own negro.

Erm no, he/we migrated regularly because it was the job.

IIRC
London
Lebanon
London
Yemen
London
Qatar
Algeria
London
Paris
London
Vienna
London

Privately
Australia - not really a huge lifetime contribution

I still regret not being swapped for an Arab baby in the hospital though, apparently it did happen. I'd be a rich Qatari by now.

Digging up all the coal to fuel your lifestyle does take energy, you're welcome.

that’s an awful lot of air miles and freight for a family. i can’t think of many family units who would have racked up such a long list of international moves. and yet you try to guilt trip the ‘umble working-class man and his once every 2 year trip to the costa del sol? what a hypocrite.

remind me how many cars you’ve owned again and how many miles you’ve driven in a private vehicle, on average, for the last 2 decades? i’ve never owned a private vehicle. keep trying to make me feel bad though because i put the aircon on in a small one-room apartment for 3 weeks last summer. you fucking idiot.

Many of those trips were by ship, also they were essential for govt business.

You could just as easily do your freelancing from the Isle of Wight.

and you could have just as easily stayed put in the UK and not tagged along with your parents' global peregrinations when you were an adult.

Many of those trips were by ship
by sailboat, was it? you waited for the winds to rise in the spring and set off with your oars and main sails ready? or were you stored in the holds of a merchant navy vessel? because passenger ships consume more carbon per person than long-haul flights, dilbert.

they were essential for govt business.
ah, i'm sure the environment pigeonholes emissions on 'essential govt business' and doesn't count them.

i thought the whole world didn't need to travel and everyone could conduct their business without travelling internationally? did they not have fax or phones in the 1980s, or what? sounds like your parents were incredibly selfish.

dilbert: david attenborough is the worst person on the planet. he has travelled so much for his nature work!
also dilbert: my parents relocated 17 times in a decade, but it was for highly important work!

why is a person who relocated from the UK to australia, a far greater distance than UK to korea, lecturing me on my life choices? what a staggering lack of self-awareness i'm sure you've never returned to europe/UK and made any visits in the entire time you've lived in australia either, have you? i'm sure that was a one-time-only trip.

too bad about the 'having to drive a car every day to function' thing, it's strange you always leave that out of your calculations considering, you know, it's one of the biggest per-individual lifestyle contributions to carbon emissions. i've never owned a carbon-emitting form of transport and have used public transport, or perambulation, my entire life. how's that going for you in the australian suburbs? i do take it you walk every time you need a carton of milk or some (locally sourced, i'm sure) produce.

Pretty hard to run a consulate, trade mission or embassy remotely.
You and your laptop could easily have moved to a cottage in Cornwall, a short walk to the village shop now and then and you'd be set.

The only trip I took as an adult was permanent migration to Australia, I haven't been back.

I'm sure your meat consumption blows my personal transport out of the water, all those late night buses, trams and subways with 1% utilisation are grossly inefficient and the last two effectively run on coal where you are.

-12 - +6 C I'm sure you're not using coal-powered electric heating at all

LMAO you haven't been to seoul, have you? weird assumption that i'm taking a lot of 'late night buses and subways' (there are no trams, hahaha). i live within walking distance of the main nightlife area of seoul, derp deeeerp. and they certainly never run public services at '1% utilisation', hahaha. it's one of the most densely populated cities on earth you absolute moron - only hong kong is more densely populated out of OECD countries.

amazing way to deflect from the fact that, yes, you really have been driving a personal vehicle now for decades, in the most wasteful manner, to support your high-carbon-footprint lifestyle in low-density suburbs, your commutes to work, and pretty much every recreational activity you need to engage in. do you walk to the shooting range? walk to the beach? walk to the stores? woops.

no way to spin it, sorry cowboy.

I migrated to a country which can move to wholly sustainable energy quite easily and is doing so, you migrated to a country wholly dependent on burning coal for the foreseeable future.

Was the down for your new jacket plucked from live ducks as most of what comes out of China is?
Maybe you should have gone with recycled polyester.

except australia isn't anywhere near sustainable energy yet, is it? well done on your state of 1.6 million people sometimes being green, though.

comparing australia and korea, and the UK for that matter, is pretty dumb considering the first 2 countries are in the world top10/15 for every 'shit job, guys' metric going.

your persistent need to make out that you're a blameless, impact-free saint is just so funny. again, find another tree to bark up. you are just as enmeshed in a high-carbon-footprint western lifestyle as anyone else. why you continually need to try and lord it over everyone else on this score is bizarre. is your self-esteem so low? are you that bitter?

At least he doesn't eat meat. It's hard to give up meat once you get a taste for it. Almost addictive. "Damn I want a cheeseburger"

Are you repulsed by the smell of meat, Dilbert?

I wouldn't be surprised, and it's ok if it repulses him.

Try going without fast/diner food for a few years and then immerse yourself in the odor of a greasy spoon joint. Might even make you retch.

Aren't you revolted by whole chickens?

I wasn't shitting on Dilbert. I was genuinely asking. I know a few vegans but out of politeness for their lifestyle I don't prod.

I had to help handle a Turkey on Thanksgiving. Grossed me out but also keep in mind I was really high which of course distorted things. I went to a party the next day, got high again, and couldn't eat anything because a dead bird was there. Maybe if the bird was in nugget form it would have been different.
