the girl was amazing. first person i've been with who had a deformity/heavy scar like that. she was super self-conscious and hadn't been romantic with anyone for years, since the accident. isn't life like a movie?

Do I have to wash the tomatoes I picked from my own garden? I didn't use any pesticides. I sometimes eat from the vine when working in the backyard doing stuff.

No reason not to wash them. I have eaten strawberries off the plant if they look fine for years.

You should be fine. Still, you should wash them anyway. They might not have pesticides or fertilizers on them, but you don't know what other contaminants they might have collected.

#foodhandling Regular tomatoes, rinse, rub, rinse, dry, chop the stem scar, and you're good to go. Easy process. Don't just leave them to soak-clean, stem scar could split away and contaminants could get into the tomato flesh.

Shrug off criticisms of being "anal retentive." Other people can take a higher risk of food poisoning if they want.

How do you feel about composting? I have a compost bin. I only put plants in there. Maybe a wet napkin or two. I really like it.

Good use for scraps you don't eat, just make sure you do things right so it doesn't stink.

Saw this clipped in social media and it reminded me of a recent forum topic:

MORPHEUS: For the longest time, I wouldn't believe it. But then I saw the fields with my own eyes, watched them liquefy the dead so they could be fed intravenously to the living -

NEO (politely): Excuse me, please.

MORPHEUS: Yes, Neo?

NEO: I've kept quiet for as long as I could, but I feel a certain need to speak up at this point. The human body is the most inefficient source of energy you could possibly imagine. The efficiency of a power plant at converting thermal energy into electricity decreases as you run the turbines at lower temperatures. If you had any sort of food humans could eat, it would be more efficient to burn it in a furnace than feed it to humans. And now you're telling me that their food is the bodies of the dead, fed to the living? Haven't you ever heard of the laws of thermodynamics?

MORPHEUS: Where did you hear about the laws of thermodynamics, Neo?

NEO: Anyone who's made it past one science class in high school ought to know about the laws of thermodynamics!

MORPHEUS: Where did you go to high school, Neo?

(Pause.)

NEO: ...in the Matrix.

MORPHEUS: The machines tell elegant lies.

(Pause.)

NEO (in a small voice): Could I please have a real physics textbook?

MORPHEUS: There is no such thing, Neo. The universe doesn't run on math.

People don't liquefy. Humans carbonize.

that's actually pretty funny. maybe the matrix really IS just speculative future soft-core fantasy and not sci-fi after all. aaaarghhhhhh!

I would have preferred in that universe for reality's moon to have been made of cheese than to behold the strange human rave.

Plot outline for one of the games I posted in the other thread is funny.
Cyberia is set in the near future of the year 2027, five years after a global economic collapse.
Pretty close to predicating an economic collapse.

How would you feel about being a step dad?

I think we've been here before. It could have happened in an alternate reality back in the two-triple-balls before the spooky job, but it turned out we were just friends who happened to like some of the same games/movies.

So I don't really know because I haven't done it. The correct, moral answer is probably to say that you wouldn't mind. If I was financially secure at the time and the kid was easy to get along with, I probably wouldn't have minded.

Screw the guys who make and abandon kids, I guess unless they don't even know. Which was possible in that case, I suppose.

I think I would have to have known her etc. before she had a kid. Or gotten to know her well over time. Reading dating profiles of women who have kids...yikes. I would actually question the motivations of a guy who reads a lady has kids and opens communication.

There are also women who abandon their children. Probably more common than people want to admit. I assume it must be even more embarrassing for a woman. "I have a kid but he lives with his dad. Being a mom is not for me? Lol. I promise I won't run off on you too. "

I actually knew her before she went off and made a kid. One of the locals, though not a classmate. Got along with her well enough before then, and after. We hung out from time to time and then moved on, simple as that.

If you're thinking about kids, you're wise to be seeking a higher position. Becoming the administrator of a camel hospital in Nunavit has increased my spending power dramatically. Keeping in mind though, every day is a hump day.

You're not allergic to drome-dairy, are you?

The machines can make whatever laws of reality they want for the simulation.
