I am going to need a detailed list of reasons why Afghan lives are anymore important than the lives of people in Ethiopia or some other place there is an intense war we can stop. Are we supposed to occupy the whole world of poor nations? The $50,000,000,000 we spent a year on the war literally paid for an expansion of food stamps and then some the same day Kabul fell. The best option in most cases is to fix things as far as they can be through an international rules based order, so people can stay where they are.
The Afghanistan pullout is pathetic, almost no money will be saved as the military do nothing instead of something for the same pay.
It is also somewhat pathetic the Afghans weren't willing to fight for their own freedoms, it seems some of them are but fewer than the tiny number of Taliban.

The Taliban was never confined to Pakistan. They were still all over the country outside of the cities. The Afghan government never had total control of the country. Many Afghan National Army soldiers were Taliban members, informants, or were sympathetic to the Taliban. The reason why things bad been so quiet lately was because they had signed a treaty for our withdrawal already. They just had to wait a little while.

Taliban shut down the entrances to the airport and fired warning shots to get the crowds to disperse. The Taliban is only letting foreigners and people with papers through.
