Side note, I'd love to see the people who hoped USA would flop in the Olympics (because of wokeness, Biden, liberals or whatever) eat their collective hats.
The right wing probably is convinced America did lose the Olympics. You can pick your own reality now. I remember seeing a proud announcement that the Men's basketball team lost to France on Brietbart. Apparently it was the opening whatever of that tournament and the U.S. ultimately got Gold. If the headlines are all you read them you probably believe Men's basketball got eliminated opening day.
CRTHKI is right that the women's soccer dropped the ball. Simon B. is a more complicated story than right wing headlines would make you think. People probably think she quit the whole event based off again headlines on BB etc. The men's baseball loss is no shame since Japan is actually good at the sport.
We need a time machine to bring 90's Tony Hawk to our time to compete in future skateboarding Olympics.

No. But my sister bought a 2021 STI WRX. So that is new in car world.
It doesn't seem like the best idea to put your body in the vicinity of someone going berserk behind their wheel. That third video, man.
Additionally, sometimes the people who aren't at fault will start stuff that doesn't need to happen. Standing in the middle of the street screaming at the guy who rear-ended you to get out of the car, fight, give you their keys or whatever won't endear you to the police when they finally do show up. Road rage, threats, bodily harm over near misses might quickly transform you from the near-victim into a felonious aggressor. Nobody wants wrecks, but fender benders can go so much smoother when everyone chills the heck out.

The whole story of the new car is awful. She totalled her Mitsu Lancer that she bought new and kept fancy for years. A car hit her while she was backing out the driveway. Insurance said it was 60/40 in terms of fault.
The money her insurance gave her for the Mitsu was a down payment on the WRX.
I actually have HD video of the accident. Her car got thrown a few feet but she was fine. I can't post the video of the car crashing or my pool exploding because cancel culture though.

Why does your sister like rally cars?
My best rally car story is of someone I was at school with whose grandmother died, he used the inheritance to buy a Lancia Delta Integrale Turbo, didn't insure it and smacked it into a traffic pole destroying it within a week.
Not as bad as the guy I know who took out loans to buy motorcycles before destroying them in short order. He's a paraplegic now - true story.

Making commentary on a sport you don't get, yet get snippy when someone takes a jab at target shooting. lol
None of you people actually saw skateboarding at the olympics so you don't know what you're talking about.
Tony Hawk stuff it wasn't
Fuck Israel
OK?
It literally says, in the video: STREET SKATEBOARDING. If you want sweet tricks on a halfpipe, you're watching the wrong event.
Tony Hawk himself on the topic (2019): https://skateboarding.transworld.net/ph … -olympics/
At least the foot might be in the door for more types of skating competitions in the future.

OK well STREET SKATEBOARDING is just shit.
You might as well have GENTLE SUNDAY MORNING JOGGING AND A SIT DOWN FOR A CUP OF TEA as an olympic event.

OK but it's neither low-impact nor casual. And wipeouts are just a fact of skating. Even for Tony Hawk.
Big talk coming from a competition shooter, anyway.

Also didn't really seem like wipeouts, it was literally beginner level stuff.
Fuck Israel
A guy slid balls first into a rail post.
Happens every day in the average suburban park.
It was literally this level, not impressed.

Imagine a target shooter calling an Olympic event where people bodily fly down a rail, trying to both do tricks and land straight, "not active enough."
e: your video illustrates my point. different skating. you'd probably get huffy if I started mocking one gun sport because it wasn't exactly like another gun sport.

Honestly seem like they're doing nothing, skiing or skating are far more impressive.
Anyway, dilution of the Olympics will just leave everyone disinterested.

I'm not sure your opinion on what is or isn't impressive irt skating is entirely informed. Until recently, it seems like you didn't have a clue that there were different kinds of skateboarding. Competition that's high impact, demanding, precision required, doesn't exactly "dilute" the Olympics imo.
A more valid complaint I'd think would be all the commercials. Who wants to watch the same Slack ad a thousand times throughout the course of an event.

The notification sound, too. Ugh.

tl;dr street skating is skating, dune is sci-fi
Been seeing a more generalized youtube algorithm in action after clearing history and tracking for recommends. I guess there's some "fish biologist" guy whose channel exploded this year(?) from reacting to one of those ubiquitous, dumbass "well scientists have been wrong before, wink-wink, you skeptics in the comments" loch-ness-monster-in-a-list-with-actual-animals ocean videos. Fight the good fight, I suppose, even if he's doing the in-character youtuber persona.
The reaction genre still feels like a failed experiment, though not all meritless. Sometimes you have stuff like a musician deconstructing a new song (or a biologist conveniently pointing out why some edutainment video your aunt sent you on facebook is nonsense). But most of it is multimedia junk food. Pausing every two seconds to talk about something unrelated, padding the video to 10-12 mins, or talking over the material so you can get that "reaction" in (or to evade copyright, I guess), missing something, and then "oh I didn't catch that at all, tell me in the comments you guys."
Youtube used to be fun. Now it's rare to find anything new that doesn't overly concern itself with channel building or some (justified or otherwise) grudge match with the website's policies. I think a lot of the problem is the fault of the platform. A perfect storm of the worst of social media combined with the voraciousness, soulless corporation.

dilution of the olympics will lead to disinterest lol. because everyone is so passionate about the discus and shotput?Dilbert_X wrote:

i saw lots of social media posts about the ‘newer’ additions to the games. women’s skateboarding etc was trending a lot on U.K. social media. javelin … not so much.
dilbert knows best.
Target shooting from outside appearances is quite a passive thing. So the best thing a target shooter can do is to throw shade on street: not "real skating" because people aren't flying around bowls. "Might as well have a leisurely walk and afternoon tea event," lol, I can't even …
I was not invested in the search for a new Jeopardy host but I now share everyone's disappointment.
Why?
