Where you looking at car rentals, airport? Try playing around with the location of the rental agencies. I've found many airports charge way higher rates. Boston and Denver are two I recall off the top of my head.

Imagine how many indignant nerds comic book and game stores have to deal with. Imagine that some of the people who work there are probably indignant nerds themselves. I can hardly blame them for eventually fitting a cynical shopkeep stereotype. If it were me shopping there, I'd have just shrugged it off. It's been a hard last 1+ year for a lot of people. If I felt like it was nasty enough, I'd just stop shopping there. No need to review bomb, you'll probably feel a little awkward about that later on.
Anecdote I've probably relayed some years back, one of our people found a complaint some years back and was in the process of replying to it much in the way you'd reply to a personal insult on an internet forum. I had to squash that flat. I am not the company HR/PR person but I was definitely wearing that hat on the occasion. Their (our company's person) feelings were hurt, but they were in the process of giving us a black eye. Our company isn't the kind that relies on advertising to the public, or even where people just walk in and browse. Our business spreads in much part thanks to word of mouth from the people we do jobs for (and no, we're not an assassin's guild). We don't need office people bringing facebook snark to yelp, yahoo, google, whatever. It just looks bad.
It was about the only such review I've found (I try and keep track in case any of our people decide to make things worse again). It had a weird mix of specifics and falsehoods, though. We'd know if someone has been trying to call for a week to complain, unless they wrote down the wrong number. Probably not even worth addressing generically. The store's reply to the review you posted looks very generic and safe. I usually take these reviews with a bit of a grain of salt in the knowledge that the person writing it are probably going to try and make themself smell like a rose.
Anyway, I think you're probably overreacting. I'd feel chagrinned to let loose with profanity in a store. Even worse in a small one, and horrible in what's practically a toy store. When stubbing your toe on a hike? Probably more reasonable. A clerk asking you to kindly not should be taken in stride like a disapproving gaze from a librarian at any disruptive behavior.

I rented 2 cars on a trip out west a couple years ago and seemingly saved a few bills because we had a corporate discount for Avis. However, rental pricing seems a bit of a rigmarole to nickel and dime you any way you cut it.
EDIT: Goddamn is it a racket. Put in a test rental near me for 5 days of a standard size car and it estimates $622 with taxes, which also includes a $75 discount for pre-paying. Using my work code, the same specs comes out to $260 total. Adding on another day even only adds 9 bucks in taxes.

Sometimes I'll get a reply to something I posted in the late 2000s and wonder what exactly I was on when I allowed myself to get drawn into the argument. It would be nice if google's delete all comments feature worked so I didn't have to bother. /fwp
