Apparently our work tax withholding changed since I set it up last year and I'm getting $930 back from the state for overpaying all year (even though I only set it up last year because I had a penalty for not withholding enough). Next year, it's gonna be right on the money.
FWP, those little twist tops pumps on hand sanitizer and soap are at the point now where like 4 times out of 10 they won't unlatch themselves. I have to keep a jar of working pumps sitting around just for that.
Had a chop saw explode on me today, doing my lunch-break Dilberts-secret-projects.
All I did was start it up and without cutting anything a tooth let go and exploded the guard - which shouldn't happen.
Fairly lucky not to be seriously injured, then again I've said that a lot of times now.
A reminder of how dangerous power tools are.

Forget injured, that shit kills people.
Were you using the right kind of blade, or was it underrated for the RPM. Old and worn? Dull? Carbide tipped should last longer on ya. It's weird that the guard broke, that should direct broken teeth into the table below.

Old blade of unknown history, machine was a bit fucked with a wobbly spindle which is probably what damaged the teeth.
Guard was a bit yellow so I'm guessing people have been spraying the blade with various unsuitable lubricants which embrittled the plastic.
I asked for the machine to be scrapped a year ago but while we have the money to hire four of the GMs chums to sit on their asses chatting all day we don't have the funds to maintain equipment.
If I'd thought a bit harder I would have just used a hacksaw. It would have been poetic to have been killed by a fragment of machine guarding.

Then every part of that thing was bad news, and should have been mothballed even if you had to make the decision unilaterally. Your company is an actual shitshow. A chop saw should not be a matter of internal contention for an engineering firm. What equivalent to OSHA do you have in Australia? Maybe they'd be interested.
You should plan to go someplace where being outside with nature is a big part of it. Alaska.
Where in Norcal? I think Yosemite is a must. Probs should at least drive through the Sequoias if you've never been too.
You two should go camping together. Ken can show you all of the skills he learned at his outdoorsman class.
That whole area around Monterey is super picturesque. I know the Gilroy garlic festival takes place in the summer, and I think there's a strawberry festival somewhere around Laguna Seca too.
It's almost always foggy there. Best bet for pics is later in the afternoon
I got a call from my doctor telling me I was ready. I didn't think I was but their records say otherwise so I wasn't going to argue too much.
I'm now somewhere on their wait list.
I'll double-check when I get there that I am indeed up next for the shot, because surely there are more deserving people than a well-off 30-something white guy who can work from home... but I won't put up too much of a fight. I do have hypertension so maybe thats it?

Not really a FWP but I'm not sure where else to put it, my mom took a fall stepping up onto her porch today. Groceries broke her fall, small abrasion otherwise, will probably be feeling it later. I'm going to help my dad install a ramp.
FWP telling a mother she doesn't need to help with groceries: Steeled Resolve TM.
When I bring groceries to their place I'll usually give her the bulkiest, most lightweight bag I can configure. Question for macbeth: is that patronizing? I know I'm a nag for keeping on them to stretch and stay relatively limber.

I don't want a lockdown until September. I want it until July so I can finish the school year full virtual. Fully reopen the economy the last day of school for all I care. I am vaccinated. Nothing matters anymore.RTHKI wrote:
Scheduled my first shot for next Wednesday.
Mac's want of a lockdown to September is dumb.
Sorry about your mom.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Offer to bring in all the groceries if she puts them all away. Of course you will bring it all in before she manages to finish putting it away and you can still help but she will feel like less of a burden if she has the a real 'duty' to finish. Child psychology.
Fucking Sig discontinued the subcompact for p320 awhile back and now it is a bitch to find the medium grip subcompact module frame for my M18. I may have to settle for the small size which lacks the rail for attaching flashlights/lasers/etc.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
Wouldn't a smaller gun be better for concealed carry? I know a guy who recently got a small .25 caliber pistol and it seems perfect for concealed carry. It has a 6 magazine which seems like more than enough.War Man wrote:

Six is fine for a backup piece, but not ideal when you consider the doctrine that you'll probably miss most of your shots. I should be talking though, I carried a small five shot revolver if I carried at all because the 9mm or .45 were heavy and unwieldy to keep concealed. Open carry state I know, but not everybody (including the police) do, and it's kind of complicated, and I think it's kind of dickish and dumb to advertise.

subcompact frame is small enough for me. Anyway, part of getting M18 also was the $620 is a reasonable price, this one I found in a gun store came in black instead of the ugly brown the m17's/m18's usually come in, I was trained with p320 platform, and it's what the Army uses now so it it good to keep practice of the platform so that when I am deployed I am very proficient with my sidearm.SuperJail Warden wrote:

Although if Amend2 S300 frame comes around, I am likely going to get that too.

Good follow post both of you.
Newbie, I think 6 is enough since I live in a blue state without a gun culture. I assume the vast majority of people you would need to fire upon would be intimidated enough by seeing the gun and hearing a loud pop.
Warman, do you know if or when they are sending you overseas?
