it's true, i never expected facebook to become the hangout of racist grandparents, etsy-selling aunts and housewives hopelessly addicted to farmville and multi-level marketing schemes back when we were all uploading 200-photo party albums in 2010.
I think part of the problem is that the older generation didn't really experience the internet's 'puberty' as it were and the learning curve younger people went through when it was all popularised in the late 90s to late 2000s. The internet felt smaller in a sense and everyone saw the rise of, say, the 911 truther websites and conspiracy peddling AND the counter arguments and debunking that followed. While some fora were isolated and had definite cultures to them, at least in general it still was an open unregulated space for discussion whilst now it's a barrage of targeted (political) advertisement and reinforcement of views through social media. I feel younger people are better at sifting the BS or judging claims by their veracity.
Immense generalisation, but it's clear everywhere that esp. older people are influenced by their internet bubbles and seem all too keen to adopt regressive and exclusionist politics. Which also again markets towards these groups and adopts many 'conservative' & 'traditionalist' values.

It's been my listening experience that older liberals have the same issues as older conservatives on the platform. They get too involved in stuff and then get banned. I just tell them to go make a discord where they can talk about whatever with their friends without getting kicked off (making their old high school friends or whatever think they died).
That is a new one for me. I've only heard of conservatives complaining about "Facebook jail" or having their posts removed/fact-checked. Never saw it in my bubble, that I knew of.
I don't know if that's representative of the actual ratio. Usually they get troll-baited into responding in a manner that gets them reported, sort of like what used to happen here.
Facebook has played both sides. It's funny to me that conservatives would run up against more real (or imagined) bias from the company.
I am so glad I left it at a placeholder account years ago with minimal information. Instant gratification time suck. At least with games there's startup times I've alt-f4d from after deciding there are other things I'd rather be doing.

Did my taxes. Ended up actually owing for the first time ever: owed the gov $1800 because I made a ton in stock last year and never paid taxes on it.
Not too mad, if I make as much as I did, I can pay the damn taxes for it.

My dad lives next to street named "Larssen". I did not appreciate my navigation saying "Make a right hand turn on Larssen street". This must be how Jay feels whenever he sees someone make a Macbeth reference.
Ordered a $20 album that came from the Netherlands. I missed the delivery of it and had to reschedule. Apparently they want me to sign for it because I guess that is still a thing in the Netherlands. I blame public servants in suits like Larssen.
Most packages coming from the Netherlands are drugs so of course they want you to sign for it.
Fuck Israel
albums are quite heavy and expensive to ship. they want a signature so that someone can take responsibility for the shipping/return fee.
Spending my morning resetting windows. Was fine yesterday but something got corrupted. Had a good 4-5 year run since I've wiped. At least I think it's been that long
Reset didn't work, had to reinstall
I lost my lightroom catalog which means all edits are gone

Really sorry to hear that. What are you doing regarding Office?
I thought Office didn't allow you to reinstall multiple times? Why do you even use OneDrive?
I have cut myself down to one cup of coffee a day.

The whole "coffee or someone dies" line of humor really is a bitter, sad sort of meme. If there was any truth to it you'd think it would be a criminalized drug. A drink shouldn't be used as a substitute for having a personality, but it's worn on so many sleeves.
The "scheduled crying" meme is funny and weird at the same time. It was funny at first until people started to straight up advocate you set time aside in the day to cry a little. I guess it can still be funny if it is a coming from a girl but I saw a dude on Facebook talking about how crying every so often is good for you. I always had my suspicions about him but I feel pretty safe to say the guy is in fact a gay.
OK so I think it's safe to say that repressing your emotions with no vent is a Bad Thing (TM), but who wants to put crying into their daily schedule, like it should be the norm of day-to-day experience. Sounds awful.
Never heard of the scheduled crying meme. Am I out of the loop or does Macbeth spend too much time online?
I've seen it (or stuff like it) on imgur, and imgur steals stuff from reddit. Mostly I'm there for animal posts.

I just got a haircut and I think my barber cut the back of my neck when he was lining it up. Super annoying
