That did heavily influence my voting. It's so versatile, and breakfast burrito form is a powerhouse.

I haven't tried making it but the guides make it look mostly straightforward. Only moderately fiddly.
i’m pretty sure on a docu like ‘jiro dreams of sushi’ or something, in one of those irritatingly perfectionist japanese clichés, you get to see his ‘assistant’ chef who has to make eggs for about 12 years as his apprenticeship before he’s allowed near a single flake of fish.

Hard to choose an answer to this poll.

In the other thread I discussed the salad-sandwich routine which I find amazing, but only once or twice a month before I OD.
You can never go wrong with a lazy scramble with some cheese/ham/green onions/whatthefuckever. Samesies for omeletes.
Poached is good but would need to be on something, in which case we've entered benedict territory.

I chose good-ol fried. By itself or on a burger or turkey sandwich.

Come to think of it, we used to give our last cat whipped raw egg. We tried it with Apocalypse Miaow but he's a bit sensitive and barfed it up immediately.

Maybe cooked egg would work, would omelette be the best start?

lol his son has like grey hairs but hasn't taken over yet. The old man's gotta be nearing 100 now.

My preferred, dated, Japanese stereotype is Mr. Miyagi's household karate chores.

The egg video seems pretty casual, even with the weighing. I might try making eggs like that at some point to cut into more or less even strips for gimbap, my favorite lunch.

@dilbs: cats can catch salmonella so i wouldn't advise giving them raw eggs. tablespoon of cooked egg whites is a nice supplement. although, some pet foods are already formulated pretty well so maybe as an occasional treat if they like it.

Last cat used to eat rabbits, pigeons, squirrels, rats etc he also used to tip eggs out of birds nests.
A raw commercial egg was the least of his worries.

A cat can still get sick from all that. Should keep indoors and use that engineer money to build an outdoor enclosure. At the very least don't contribute to vectors of a potentially fatal illness that your cat can encounter.

You can pasteurize the eggs to be a bit safer (see sous vide). Your grocery store will probably have pasteurized egg whites as well.

In fact, let me drive that home from a conservationist standpoint:

Well the point about eggs still stands. And I do still recommend an outdoor enclosure if you have the space. Your last cat didn't really need to predate wildlife if you were feeding it normally.

Cats hunt for fun too, it's not always about the food.

I guess my point is that a cat has no need to hunt for food if it's fed regularly. Appending Larssen's ^

Neither a safe nor necessary hobby for a fed housecat. It's good that you are keeping the new cat indoors or supervised, though again I stand by my salmonella warning and, as a bonus for your cat recommendation for an outdoor enclosure.

They can sit and make acking noises at birds all they want and you don't have to sit around outside to disrupt a stalking by turning a rolled up pair of socks into a cat-seeking missile.

Cat prison. You are a feline jailor. Cats are supposed to roam free like their cousins in the African savannah

Because it's more dangerous for your pets. Also for animals you may not necessarily want culled, like threatened species of birds. Cat impact on ecosystems is much discussed.

They also get into fights with other cats and spread disease that way as well. Also, encounters with dogs. And more dangerous wild animals depending on where you live.

Rough segue from what kind of foods we put scrambled eggs into, but dilbert did bring up cats in terms of pushing eggs out of nests and feeding them raw egg, so there's at least some connection.

If you don't have time for pets or don't want to interact with them, don't have pets. *shrug*

I always feel sorry for huskies that are bought as pets by clueless urbanites. Or anyone really. Those dogs are made to run 200km a day in freezing cold. They're not great for much else and will wreck your stuff or become severely depressed (or both) without X hours of movement every day and enough space.

If different breeds of dog have different inherent behaviors, does the same apply to people?

It's not a bad question but it's a eugenics argument that has actually been made many times before. The variation and diversity among dogs isn't really comparable to people at all. Also, invariably, past attempts at selective breeding of humans never really produced the desired result. Some academic would have to explain or you might want to page uziq to reference an article or two, but the gist of it as I understand is we're entirely different species and the "rules" aren't the same. It's also a slippery slope that usually leads to wrong, pointless and needless racism.
