I don't have much to say. It's not good, cgi is rampant, poorly aged greenscreen is rampant, but I enjoyed watching it. The sound and visual design are still nice even if direction and writing aren't.
Worst of the Lucas movies unless I somehow dislike ep3 more next weekend

John Wick 1-3 Meh/10

Storyline was what you'd expect from a video game, actions scenes the same, cut scenes the same, really it was like watching a walkthrough of a videogame.

I'll watch #4 if it ever comes out.

I thought it was really hammy with none of the benefit of the hammy humor that sometimes made the other movies fun. Dreary material.

Ep. 1 and the pod race spectacle was the best part of all the prequels, and it wasn't even crucial to the story. The idea that a slave owner could have stopped Liam Neeson from taking a some kind of force prodigy into the fold? Not even his own Jedi Council could dissuade him.

e: one of ep. 3 saving graces is that ewan and hayden really went to town in their fight. behind the scenes i seem to remember they bent their sticks on impacts, which gave it good weight in post. excellent gif material. and obviously mcdiarmid having such a contagiously fun time.

Episode 3. 7/10. Best of the prequels but that isn't saying much. If Lucas hired a fkn writer and director the prequels could have been something else, oh well.
It's a fun movie but not great. Again ep1 was a waste of time just make it start with anakin at 20 or whatever and it being a long war.
Too long but does have meme value.

If you don't mind watching cartoons, the cartoons are probably better than the movies. From clips, I would probably agree. Still has humor, and the "serious" scenes are easier to watch. Maybe it's because there's a sort of disconnect between the cartoon writing of the movies and them being live action.

Dragged Across Concrete: 10/10, Movie is a long 2 and a half hours but once it picks up it is an amazing movie. I can't recommend enough.

I'll watch older Godzillas any day. At least two men fighting in monster suits are giving their all. Shoestring B can be a blast if you're in the right mood. Cats was a bit of a waste for reasons explored in this thread, and could have been a much more put-together production considering its budget. Too many lazy mistakes and misreads.

The older Godzillas were fine, Godzilla: King of the Monsters had every plot and script cliche imaginable, at least Cats was original.

I keep seeing reviewers calling it cerebral. Is it really cerebral, or is it just a mess of obfuscated storytelling?

It's probably unfair of me but I feel like if I'm not motivated to watch the trailer, what good is the movie going to do me.
