the typical obsession of the daily mail class: BENEFIT CLAIMANTS.

yes i’m sure queuing up to give benefits’ claimants a kicking will solve the housing crisis, the cost of food, and social harmony.

I'm still a believer in just creating jobs instead of paying people to sit on their bums vegetating - subsidising their wages to pick crops for example.

that's neat.

but building new affordable housing stock at a rate that is comparable to a growing population probably makes sense, too.

make it private affordable housing for all i care. i'm not proposing you house benefits claimants and pay their bills, tout court (though there will be cases when that is a necessary and good thing for society to do). just build enough affordable housing full-stop. people generally need to get jobs in order to get mortgages.

People do need houses, that is true.

wherein the problem is that it's much harder to talk the banks into giving first-time lender mortgages than it is to queue up, yet again, with the monied interests and landlords in the daily mail, and give the underclass a good booting. 'it's all your fault! you feckless poor!' or to scaremonger about 'immigrants' undercutting the cost of food (which again, LMAO).

the whole system of domestic banking is invested in property prices continuing to rise. widespread building of affordable housing, that is, looking at housing as a SOCIAL GOOD rather than as the bank's MAIN area of speculation, is a political hot potato for this reason: it involves confronting the banking system.

but oh well, dilbert has the simplistic answers to everything, and it involves teeing off on society's poorest, bottom rung.

According to a report on deprivation in Southend-on-Sea, where 35 per cent of children live in poverty, ‘low-paid jobs do not seem a viable means of removing parents from poverty, even when in receipt of benefits and tax credits.'
https://democracy.southend.gov.uk/Data/ … t21336.pdf

oh well, i'm sure it sounds good to blame the poor in your tabloid comment sections.

Voting against feeding deprived children sounds like the stuff of caricature. Yet 322 MPs voted down a motion to extend free school lunch provision over the Christmas holidays. [Marcus] Rashford’s unflagging, public disgruntlement led to the decision being overturned. The Tories have talked themselves and others into associating need with deceit, incompetence and laziness; this is the morally bankrupt endpoint of the persistent demonisation of welfare recipients as ‘scroungers’ and ‘fraudsters’. Derisory food parcels may be the product of incompetence and profiteering, but those factors are underwritten by wilful neglect, part of a deeper punitive ideology. Shame, misery and hunger are seen as just deserts.

It really is a seductive sort of rhetoric for some, isn't it. There's about a zillion articles exploring why the poor are so utterly loathed, even by other poor and people barely above their station.

It's pretty crazy how modern text apps have premade replies based off of what the other person types.

Mornings seem darker this week, like my eyes aren't as well adjusted to seeing in the dark as every day up to last friday. Peoples headlights don't seem blinding as much either so win/lose

Oh God. I got a call from the solar panel people just now.

The guy's name was Han and he was asking about my house. I told him my wife and I own the house but we are getting divorced. I told him my wife cucked me with a man named Hank. He said "I know how that feels. I recently found out my fiancée has been cheating on me with one of my best friends. So I have been kind of down this week"

I didn't have the nerve to keep trolling him after that. I apologized and he kept trying to sell me solar panels. I eventually admitted to trying to waste him his time and he told me to have a good day anyway.

You will still be on bf2s. You and Dilbert will even be in the same time zone thus facilitating your mutual combat.

I called a sporting goods company in Minnesota about making a return and the rep said that we have a new administration which he did not vote for yet wishes them all the best. I said god bless and he told me I was a good man.

I feel like there is a lot of missing context in your story. Sports, Minnesota, the election... So many questions.

Change is generally better managed in increments. Too much too fast will make it feel like your world is flipped, and less like you're a new man born again thanks to the baptism of water streaming from your Korean girlfriend's eyes during your first Korean-soil fuck.

All this to say its been a pleasure, and stop by some time.
