i've never smoked a single cigarette in my life and i don't live in an air-pollution choked city. if the worst my lungs have to deal with is some delicious ass greek yoghurt, it's a risk i'm just going to have to take.
It's not ok with most fruit. Only berries with high fiber content, and in moderation.Superior Mind wrote:
You have lungs right?
Jay can you answer me this: why is Keto ok with fruit but not whole grains or carrots?
Fruit is full of fructose, which metabolizes the same way sucrose does. You get an insulin spike from both, and the idea is to avoid the insulin spikes.

uzi: well you have a point there. The incidence of lung cancer in the US vs Japan is pretty huge. In Japan they smoke a lot but don’t eat much dairy. In the US people eat loads of dairy and smoke lots. The tar from smoking clings to all the mucus from the dairy collected in the lungs compounding each other.
Jay: by that logic whole grains and sweet vegetables are a much better choice than berries. Much longer chain sugar molecules.
Also are you avoiding alcohol with your keto diet?

thanks for pointing that out, though. i've never thought about the formation of mucous. i've sort of intuited over time that running soon after a dairy breakfast is a bad idea. makes sense now.
I wouldn’t post this kind of information if I couldn’t back it up with hard evidence. The medical studies and data are out there. I’m not here to judge anyone. Sincerely just sharing the “new shit that came to light.”
Simple sugar is also mucus forming. Especially tropical fruits and cane sugar if you live in a temperate climate.
And white flour: highly mucus forming.
Mucus forms in response to the body’s tissues becoming inflamed and needing to be soothed/protected with mucus. It’s the highly acidic nature of certain foods that cause that inflammationZ

I don't drink much to begin with, but when I do, I stick to liquor, which is keto-friendly.Superior Mind wrote:

Why is liquor keto friendly? It’s pure simple sugar.
The sugar has been converted to alcohol.Superior Mind wrote:

And how does alcohol metabolize?
Liquor is the balance for all that meat.
Dilating your blood vessels that are all hardened and clogged with cholesterol. So as long as your doing this diet I would say keep sippin and cheers

I said it was keto-friendly, not perfect. Much better than beer or wine.

I don't know Sup Minds background but I am looking askance at some of these claims.
Jay, see if daikon is keto friendly. It would be a great boon to you. It dissolves animal fat like no other vegetable. Mushrooms as well are a good idea.
I’ve been studying and practicing macrobiotics for 7 years. I managed the kitchen at a former school for macrobiotics where I met scores of people who have recovered from serious illnesses.

So your information is a bit out of date... cholesterol is not bad, in and of itself, it is actually good. It performs the work that you probably assign to "free radicals" in that it is the first line of defense against cancer cells and helps to repair cell damage. Because cholesterol consumption on a keto diet is higher than normal, it actually becomes more difficult to sunburn because there are more free cholesterol molecules running around repairing stuff. It's a neat side effect.Superior Mind wrote:

High cholesterol and arterial plaques are not caused by fat consumption, just like increased body fat is not caused by fat consumption.

I linked an article interviewing the head of the Wuhan lab months ago. It covered in decent depth the history of that particular lab and the specific head doctor's interest in coronavirus. You called that article propaganda, but really you just admitted that you didn't read it.Dilbert_X wrote:

Interesting.
Regardless, glad you are a little better educated about it now
You know, I've never given much thought to seaweed as a food outside of specifically Asian recipes. There's some stuff on that site I think I'll try.Superior Mind wrote:

In most cases cholesterol/plaque build up comes from excess sugar consumption. I don’t really sunburn easily either. Sugar and tropical fruits are really the culprit behind getting burnt easily. I know cholesterol isn’t bad. No naturally occurring part of our body and the traditional human diet is bad. Just about balance. Whether or not all that meat and dairy is clogging your arteries, it is putting a huge stress load on your pancreas, liver, your whole body basically. You went from a standard American diet to this. It’s not like you are an Inuit burning 5000 calories a day in the arctic. They were the only “carnivore” dieters in the world before it became a fad diet.
Crap accumulates for years inside our bodies. That why it’s important to eat lots of veggies and soups to flush out your organs.
All of this is relevant to the pandemic because Americans’ diets and hence immune systems are terrible which is a major factor in why it’s so bad here besides the hair brained attitudes towards safety.

i still think its funny that jordan peterson only eats raw meat or whatever and claims it cures his depression. that guy looks like total rundown shit.
i'm not sure about 'soup flushes', like any 'detox', however. i don't think that's how biochemistry works.

Jordan Peterson nearly died and was in a coma due to his diet and Russian pseudoscience healthcare. Guy can barely walk now.uziq wrote:

Soup is just the best delivery system for bringing the chemicals from plants to every part of the body, because it’s so easily absorbed into the blood stream. Hard to digest food doesn’t get as much absorption.
Jordan Peterson seems to have gone through hell with his health recently and in the past and still thinks it’s ok to not eat vegetables?

he's also been totally dependent on a cocktail of pharmaceuticals for almost a decade, so there is that.SuperJail Warden wrote:

didn't he get seriously ill because he tried to with-draw from a painkiller or benzo? he's dependent on some pills anyway.
i do eat a lot of soup. this is encouraging. fuck yeaSuperior Mind wrote:

Yeah it was benzos.
Yes, he went to Russia to do some banned in the west detox program and it fucked up his body and put him in a coma.uziq wrote:

normally i would sympathise but that guy has literally made a career out of telling people how to live their lives. it's up there with the ayn rand lot claiming federal benefits.

Yikes, poor guy.n 2016, Peterson had a severe autoimmune reaction to something he ingested and was prescribed clonazepam.[137] In late 2016, he went on a strict diet consisting only of meat and some vegetables, in an attempt to control his severe depression and the effects of an autoimmune disorder including psoriasis and uveitis.[5][70] In mid-2018 he stopped eating vegetables, and continued eating only beef (see carnivore diet).[138]
In April 2019, his prescribed dosage of clonazepam was increased to deal with the anxiety he was experiencing as a result of his wife's cancer diagnosis.[139][140][141] Starting several months he later, he made various attempts to lessen his intake, or stop taking the drug altogether, but experienced "horrific" withdrawal symptoms, including "incredible, endless, irresistible restlessness, bordering on panic", according to his daughter Mikhaila.[142][139]
According to Mikhaila, Peterson and his family were unable to find doctors in North America who were willing to accommodate their treatment desires, so in January 2020, Peterson, Mikhaila and her husband flew to Moscow, Russia for treatment.[143] Doctors there diagnosed Peterson with pneumonia in both lungs upon arrival, and he was put into a medically-induced coma for eight days. Peterson spent four weeks in the intensive care unit, during which time he allegedly exhibited a temporary loss of motor skills and muteness.[citation needed]
