You can't demand the right to do what you want to do without others complaining.

Moving on:

I'm not sure how much of this whole business is about race and how much is about bullying thugs being drawn to the Police.

Bullies will pick on those they perceive to be weak and unable to defend themselves and unable to mobilise others to defend them.
American police have too much power, too little discipline, too little oversight and rarely pay any consequence for their actions.
If they weren't picking on blacks you can bet they'd be picking on another minority group without the resources to get their elected representatives ear or hire decent lawyers and fund actions against the state.

Historically police all over the world have allowed bullies and thugs into their ranks, worked together to protect themselves and make themselves immune for criticism and consequences.
Outside real totalitarian states America does seem to be one of the worst places for this.

So yeah, the blacks are getting it now, whether or not you care about blacks the Police need to be brought into line in everyone's selfish self-interest.

i love how jay accuses everyone of liberal emotionalism but then expects us to solemnly read his ‘sincere breakthrough’ posts when he talks about just how sad he is at the world. and what does it come down to, this aching sympathy for the tears of things? his kid’s daycare.

but hey, he really sympathises with black folks. jay knows pain!

You really are clueless. Why do you assume that libertarians just want to be assholes? Would that maybe be your own personality in a society with fewer laws and restrictions? I think you're projecting a bit.

The core tenet is that you are free to do as you like until you infringe on other's life and liberty. It's all about living in a world under the Golden Rule. If anything, it's a kinder world.

Oh it's commonly heard. During the war in afghanistan and the insurgency in iraq allied forces kept perpetuating the lie that all those they fought were not from there.

Sure, there were some external jihadis, but their base of support and many fighters were native. Similarly I'm sure there are some rioters out of state, but in so many cities simultaneously that is a lie.

Great in theory, in practice assholes flock to the idea of unlimited rights, zero responsibility and immunity from criticism.

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said Wednesday that he does not support using active duty troops to quell the large-scale protests across the United States triggered by the death of George Floyd and those forces should only be used in a law enforcement role as a last resort after President Donald Trump recently threatened to deploy the military to enforce order.

"The option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act," he said during a briefing at the Pentagon.

This will be interesting to see how it goes. Trump would basically now have to fire his secretary of defense in order to send troops to stop the protest? How many senior military officers would refuse to give the order too?

National Guard at the Lincoln Memorial. There are now thousands of National Guard in D.C.

a coworker is in the national guard, he got called overseas for many months. he also was put on standby yesterday.
