The president held a call with officials on Monday morning, after a week of protests and riots around the US. On the call, the president urged governors and law enforcement officials to “dominate” the protesters, according to a source who listened in.
Trump, the source said, repeatedly urged the participants to act more forcefully, and also urged the officials and governors not to be weak.
According to a second official with knowledge of the call, the president said governors need to be much tougher. This source said the president warned them against being “overridden” and argued that if they did not dominate protesters, “you’re wasting your time, they are gonna run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks.”
Trump also said states should enact laws against flag burning.

Was anyone else watching news coverage and found it to have a very perverse perspective? They broke into TV Saturday night with pretty inconsequential footage, though they kept replaying a car on fire and broken storefront. The anchors seemed very unprepared on were basically saying "Obviously, we hope this doesn't turn violent but let's keep watching." Seemed very exploitative.

Iyad Halaq, 32, was killed on Saturday in occupied East Jerusalem while he walked to his special needs school.
Israel's police force said officers suspected Mr Halaq was carrying a weapon and that they opened fire when he failed to obey orders to stop. He was later found to have been unarmed.
Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz expressed regret over the shooting.
"We are sorry about the incident in which Iyad Halaq was shot, and we of course share in the grief of his family. I am sure this issue will be quickly investigated and conclusions will be drawn," he told a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
Mr Gantz added that Israeli security forces would "make every effort to use necessary force with the intention of reducing casualties as much as possible".
