it's as stupid as any fixed rule, but it says something about general maturity levels and 'phase' in life, i think.
being a 30-something dating a college student is not only creepy, it just doesn't work. you have nothing in common (or shouldn't, anyway). zero life experiences. it's clearly just a transaction: their youth for your money/independence/place to live/etc.
not to say people can't be happy in such arrangements, but i prefer to think of relationships being best when they're between two equals with an equal stake.
the other way quickly leads to rich old men bagging beautiful young wives when they pretty much openly detest one another.
