It's a famous point of conflict between the U.S. and the E.U. when it comes to subsidizing Boeing and Airbus. Both claim the other is breaking trade laws to promote their local favorite. The U.S. will sooner bailout Boeing than see it go under. Big businesses don't collapse in America anymore. They get bailouts like GM.

In a capitalist system a certain proportion need to be unemployed, a certain proportion need to die every year, preferably the old and unproductive.

Who if anyone should get a bailout? The recent bank bailout was fine. It is actually a loan. I am more hesitant to bail out other businesses especially the cruise ship and airline industry. The they just got a big tax cut. What did they do with it? If we are going to bailout these big companies then we might as well nationalize/buy them. I like that we are going to try a temporary universal basic income. It won't be enough but it is something. There are horror stories going around about service and retail workers losing their jobs right now.

My father is a manager of a car dealership and they won't be affected by this crisis as much as other professions. They will see decreased business but as an industry, the sale and repair of transportation units is vital. Or at least more vital than say movie theaters, bars, and restaurants.

My mom is on her state worker pension and social security. She has Medicare and through her my father and sister are still covered under her state subsidized healthcare insurance. So she will be fine. Thank you checks notes state worker unions.

My sister is a pretty 23 year old white girl nurse. She might be the main character of the pandemic. She will definitely be fine economically and is the healthiest person in the family.

As for me? I am still getting paid to work from home. School might be cancelled the rest of the year but the people who work for the schools are completely covered in terms of pay. School janitors, food service workers, security, substitute teachers and aides, etc. either have unions or are still getting paid by the school through whatever contractors they have. School budgets come from government taxes, and the superintendent doesn't get performance bonuses. The money has already been budgeted. Schools are saving a bunch of money by not having to power the schools and use supplies anyway.

Overall I feel pretty confident I will make it through this recession fine. Personal health is a different story. My parents are in their 50's and have health problems. I also have to go to the hospital to get my yearly lung and kidney check Friday. I would be unsurprised if at least one us dies from this.

The crazy pills I am on can cause kidney damage. I don't take a high dosage of the stuff that can really screw with your kidneys and I am not a drinker. But I have to get yearly checks. I have a very small lung nodule in my lungs that needs to be monitored yearly. I have to get them both checked Friday due to having to wait for insurance to approve it. Took them a month to do so.

The ironic thing about the lung nodule is that I would have never have known about it if it wasn't for me having to go to the doctor's office for a bad flu. They checked my lungs while there (for the low price of $220) and found a nodule that required a MRI ($30 co-pay). The other good thing about that health scare was that they did a brain MRI and it didn't show any signs of multiple sclerosis like my mom, and her mother and sisters have. So I actually got two MRI's done at once for a $30 co-pay. I am pretty pleased about that.

I bought Sandstorm last year and have played quite a bit of that.

I have seen people complain about it and I'm not entirely sure why. I find it enjoyable.
