Really.

Britain didn't actually build or own the Suez canal, they owned shares in it for which they were going to be paid market value.
Really not a big deal. Israel being blockaded was a bigger deal, for Israel at least.

Without Britain, France, America etc supporting Israel against Egypt its unlikely this would have happened in this way.

Seems Israel has been a strong driver for the Muslim Brotherhood, not the irrelevance anti-Arab revisionists with an agenda claim it is.

i've covered this exhaustively before in the past. the history of anti-semitism in the muslim brotherhood. the role of the grand mufti of jerusalem. you're literally not telling me anything new. i have read several books on this subject and the fascist tendency in islam.

my point, again, was that the muslim world could find plenty of reasons to seed radicalism and terrorism against the west. anti-western feeling in places like iran are not reducible to israel. there is a history of colonialism, of foreign meddling and economic influence (including britain being a major share-holder in a national asset that wasn't believed to be generating enough wealth for egyptian citizens; this is textbook neo-colonialism), and of resistance to 'westernization' and the importing of western culture/values.

none of this has anything to do with zionism.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is reviewing claims Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother, The Post has learned.

Two FBI agents held an hours-long meeting in Minnesota in mid-October with a concerned party who handed over a trove of documents regarding Omar’s 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a source with knowledge of the event said.

At the meeting, first reported by website The Blaze, the agents discussed concerns the Somali-born Democrat married Elmi, a British citizen rumored to be her brother, so he could obtain a green card and study in America, the source said.

The two agents said they would share the information with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Department of Education, but did not commit to opening an investigation into the firebrand lawmaker, the source said.
Wow, immigration fraud. She will not get into trouble though. All she has to say is that it was a real marriage and the disgusting leftist social justice warriors will embrace incest as a lifestyle choice.

This is interesting:

In the early 1950s, the United States initiated a more activist policy of support for Egyptian nationalism; this aim was often in contrast with Britain's policy of maintaining its regional hegemony. Israel feared that the US policy, which encouraged Britain to withdraw its military forces from the Suez Canal, would embolden the military ambitions towards Israel of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the President of Egypt. Israel at first sought to influence this policy through diplomatic means, but was frustrated.[4]

In the summer of 1954, Colonel Binyamin Gibli, the chief of Israel's military intelligence directorate Aman, initiated 'Operation Susannah' in order to reverse that decision. The goal of the Operation was to carry out bombings and other acts of sabotage in Egypt, with the aim of creating an atmosphere in which the British and American opponents of British withdrawal from Egypt would be able to gain the upper hand and block the British withdrawal from Egypt.

According to historian Shabtai Teveth, who wrote one of the more detailed accounts, the assignment was "To undermine Western confidence in the existing Egyptian regime by generating public insecurity and actions to bring about arrests, demonstrations, and acts of revenge, while totally concealing the Israeli factor. The team was accordingly urged to avoid detection, so that suspicion would fall on the Muslim Brotherhood, the Communists, 'unspecified malcontents' or 'local nationalists'."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavon_Affair

Seems there wasn't a whole lot of Anti-Semitism, just Israel causing trouble and trying to pin it on egyptian nationalists.

a large number of nasser's military and administration had ties to nazi germany. there was an overlap of ideology.

anti-semitism was aggressively promoted and published, with the circulation of propaganda like 'the protocols of the elders of zion', in nascent nationalist regimes such as egypt.

all this is well-covered.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_von_Leers

'there wasn't a whole lot of anti-semitism' apparently. just a bunch of senior nazi propaganda officers publishing rabidly anti-semitic screeds, converting to islam, taking a muslim name, and working in egypt. damn those nefarious israelis and their subterfuge!

next you'll tell me that wikipedia is staffed by jews.

What does any of that have to do with Israelis planting bombs in Egypt in 1954?
It seems they weren't too focused on any particular group.

But I'm sure the Egyptians became 'anti-semitic' for congenital reasons, nothing to do with Israel causing trouble on the border.
suspicion would fall on the Muslim Brotherhood, the Communists, 'unspecified malcontents' or 'local nationalists'.
Was America 'anti-semitic' in encouraging Egyptian nationalism or supplying arms to Israel but denying them to Egypt?

Next you'll tell me that American Presidents have all been Nazis.

i'm struggling to see how you're getting confused. the nazis literally had active propagandists and contacts in nasser's egypt. part of nasser's military rule was based on nationalist ideology developed by the nazis. black propaganda like the aforementioned 'protocols ...' are still widely read and cited by islamic scholars in places like egypt today, despite the fact that they were distributed and published in the arab world by the nazis. the link is all too apparent.

why would i claim an american president is a nazi? america has its own geopolitical aims in the region. it's not an either/or situation. you're being really incredibly dense.

Fascist movements in Europe had a definite link to the development of Arab Socialism and the political movements that took power in Iraq, Syria, and Egypt. Antisemitism was secondary to the opposition to British colonialism though. The Nazis and Arabs were interested in each other because they both wanted to collapse the British Empire.

If you want to blame someone for anti-Semitism in the Middle East, the British need to take a bit of it for introducing the Jews as major political force in the Middle East.

Israel have been provoking everyone in the region for 100 years
Thats exactly what they've been doing. Enmity between the Arabs and the Israelis predates the existence of the Nazis, the Zionist plan to drive the Palestinians out of Palestine predates Hitler's birth.

This idea that arabs hate the jews because all arabs are nazis is ludicrous, a kind of blood-libel.

If your argument, that Arab terrorism is founded in anti-British and other anti-colonialist sentiment why is the bulk of Arab etc anger directed at Israel and America? Makes no sense, when America was supporting arab nationalists.

I noticed Arabic girl students are pretty smart and are generally good students. They are also calm and easy to get along with. They are better students than the Arabic males. I think one of the reasons the Middle East is behind the west might be due to them not taking advantage of the full potential of women.

I am glad that we agree.

And the reason they mistreat women? Islam. There is a direct connection that proves that Islam destroyed the Middle East.

9 out of 10 articles on National Review are Easter themed. It's nauseating. I don't mind getting blasted with Easter messages but these people are fake. They hold up Christ as an example today but then promote selfishness and greed the next. At least on Breitbart they have one Easter article on the front and then it is back to business as usual: Trump, Democrats, immigrants, COVID etc. The lack of sanctimony is refreshing.

Occasionally I flick on Fox News just to see what they're ranting about, today's question seemed to be "Is it better to be dead or free? Wouldn't it be better to die from COVID-19 than see the freedom to go to church taken from us?"

neither the religious nor the secular have extirpated the death drive and our strange paradoxical fascination with and denial of death.

wealthy people in secular countries seem to go about as if they're immune to dying, or can buy their way out of it. isn't it true that most of the western world is currently waiting for a deus ex machina from science to deliver us from the ills of coronavirus, climate change, dying from cancer, experiencing ageing and cell death etc, at all?

how many fools have been taken for $250,000 to have their jumble of dead jelly preserved cryogenically?

the fact that some christians look forward to the afterlife more than the present 'vale of tears' is nothing new.

So this is somewhat tangential, but I think highlights a somewhat similar thought: the folks who never had confidence in the system, either as 'disaster preppers' or emergency management professionals, are now finding out that being ministers of death praying for war isn't the fun in the sun they thought their pre-event efforts would lead to. Still sucks eating canned soup, and you still might die.

I think even for the people not relying on love nor money to 'save' them from death this whole thing is showing them their fragility.

Strange how 'freedom or death' has become 'freedom AND death'.

What a world we could have if people were focused on making progress in this life, not the next one.
Religion has a lot to answer for, I'd ban it.

One of the final Evangelical pastors to decide to close their church got together with the others to pray away the COVID virus. Someone made a remix of it that is actually not too bad sounding as a song.

An article for Dilbert : NYPD breaks up massive crowd gathered for rabbi's funeral in Brooklyn
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio sent police to Brooklyn on Tuesday to disperse a massive crowd that had gathered for a rabbi's funeral in defiance of a statewide shutdown over the coronavirus.

The mayor sent a series of tweets scolding the crowd, messages that themselves generated widespread backlash from many who felt they unfairly singled out the city's Jewish community.

Hasidic Jews in the U.S. are known for breaking the social distancing rules. It is making people very angry especially since the government seems hesitant to really crack down on them. In Lakewood New Jersey, a town that is infamous for Hasidic Jews peacefully ethnically cleansing the city of non-Jews, they are still openly working and doing stuff. They are making the anti-Semitic "diseased Jew" myth a reality.

Poor Bill has had to apologise for being a racist anti-semite, serves him right, Nazi.

NYC is easily the worst-hit place in the world, having a significant cohort who believe they don't have to abide by the laws of the nation can't be a coincidence.
