I know I posted this before, but you know that under the Constitution (not sure which) NZ can join Australia as a state any time it wishes?

I agree we can hang shit on each other but beware any nation that hangs shit on OUR New Zealand without OUR permission lol.

It seems that an awful lot of kiwis are questioning whether we are doing enough, soon enough. From what i have seen there is generally good support for the intervention.

BTW i think we currently have 40-50 troops on the ground with a hundred or so more to follow in the next couple of days.

But the question you have to ask is who's doing the burning?  The capital has issues with gang activity.  Poor areas over here have problems with gang activity.  East Timor is an entire poor *nation*.

And besides, I'll bet the Indonesians are involved somehow.

Sure, Australia will kick ass down there. Those rebels and rioters are no more tactical than the ones in africa. And those Steyr AUGs. Mmmm

your right they dont ask for it, for some dumb reason we keep giving them financial aid for no thanks at all.

if we can send troops over to timor ( i dont totally disagree with this) i believe we should send some up to the top end where Gangs are running amuck, with spears, woomera's the whole caboodle, seriously look into it, its emabarressing.

Don't really think we need to send in more troops, maybe we should have done what we did the first time. The first time we went in and occupied the whole country in a few days and it stopped all opposition in its tracks. This time we took the first few days making sure the airport was secure not patroling Dili which allowed gangs to loot and kill. Then again the first time we sent in the SAS a week earlier and the opposition just disappeared... strange that.

Basically any population would act the same if law and order broke down... get rid of the police and have the military fighting itself and there will be gangs of looters. Give it a week and everything will be carm, especially as more police arrive.

iam not sure if we need any more troops over ther maybe a few more companies couldnt hurt
they are still having problems with looting etc but from what i have heard most of the fighting and killing in Dili has stopped

There is a bit of oil in East Timor, and I believe a small number of Marines turned up unexpectedly.  I believe they're there to protect the US embassy however, and you need not worry about any oil accusations.  If that had been the case there would be a much larger US presence, and we would of seen US troops there the first time round.  In any case, welcome aboard

We've sent an advance platoon of sorts, and a company.  Personally I think we should sent a lot more.

loved watching the news tonight, Indonesia had closed their borders & sent their naval fleet to the coastal borders. Believed to be just a sign of posturing! Lmao I say let them mass their forces in one spot just makes em easier targets, 24hours and their entire naval fleet will be sitting on the bottom.
