As a reasonably thin man, I'd kill for easier bespoke clothing. Even slim fit button-up shirts I wear for work often are loose around the torso or have unflattering folds when tucked in. With pants, it seems to range from rail-thin Holocaust survivor that I can't even get on to searching through piles of jeans for a diamond in the rough in just my size and cut. I suspect being in the American midwest might be part of the problem, though.
in terms of non-bespoke solutions, try some of the asian brands. their average sizes are smaller. can you get uniqlo in the mid-west?

'standard' american clothing seems baffling to europeans because there is no consideration of fit whatsoever. huge baggy trousers, ill-fitting shirts, etc. it's really bizarre when you look at a 'normie'-looking american person and it's like every piece of clothing was designed for someone else's body.

Apparently, they've got a store downtown. It is a quandary though, because sometimes "thin" clothing is for people with no muscles whatsoever. I don't think I have terribly large muscles from running, but I've tried on some skinnier cut pants that I would not be able to fit in without planing down  some muscle groups.

was talking more about sizing standards than the skinny/slim/standard cutting. most brands do their standard button-down shirts in several cuts.

I've found Van Heusen have a range of fits and are reasonable quality for shirts.

Their shirts are so thin that they're transparent. They also run short. Not a fan at all.

Viking beards. Absolutely disgusting. Impractical too.

Why do some men do this? It is obviously pretty gay since you have to shampoo and trim it. Men are not supposed to devote time to maintaining stylized hair.

the beards trend peaked several years ago. there was a period 2-3 years ago, assumedly after several years' growth, when everyone had a huge manicured/waxed beard. a lot of people going for the 'navy seals'/'SAS commando' look.

imo it was just a way for a bunch of men with weak jawlines and double-chins to punch above their weight for a season. who can blame them. the inevitable backlash to clean-shaven will put them in a drought.

same thing will happen with tattoos.

Guy I've known for a few years posted a pic from when he didn't have a beard. Wouldn't have recognized him.
Half the guys at the IT place I worked at had a beard, and half of them really shouldn't have.

Where did you read that? Do you not wash your hair? There's an entire industry around men's shaving/grooming kits and barber shops.

Some of the ideas that you have. Can just imagine you doing a full buzz every time because you'd feel gay otherwise. Sad.

Can't say I'm much for the fade/flop hairdo, though.

I get a buzz cut whenever I get a haircut. The hair on the top of your head is clearly different than playing with extra hair you don't need.

A goatee is fine. Goatees are low maintenance. You don't have to shampoo, comb, and trim a goatee like you would a viking beard.

i actually don't mind a basic level of grooming. but i mean people who grow out giant beards and make it their biggest personality trait, with endless grooming and instagram-whoring, much like people who start wearing flat-caps and suspenders and comporting themselves as if they're victorian gangers, not so much. that's a bit much: that's playing dress up rather than getting dressed.

but tbh for a grown man not to have a decent sense of style, more specifically a style that suits him, with well-fitting clothes, a suitable haircut that is kept well, skincare routine, etc. is just silly. it's like moving out of your parents house and learning to cook: learn how to dress and carry yourself in the world. americans in generic baggy clothing with 10-minute barbershop haircuts, done with a dirty shaver by a half-blind korean war vet, are fucking infants. take possession of yourself ffs. stop treating your appearance as just another aisle you pick and grab things from in a hurry at walmart. it doesn't take a lot of energy or time to take care of the basics.

I try to explain to my students that people will judge them throughout their lives for all sorts of things out of their control. But how you dress is something you can control and you should put thought into.

I usually give this speech if a boy student isn't wearing a belt or is wearing pajama pants. I hate pajama pants.

Make sure to tell them to not comb their hair, macbeth. You know, because that would be gay.

I yelled at an old lady Arabic aide and she left the room upset because I refused to enforce the dress code a few minutes ago. Would you be interested in hearing that story?

Pajama pants outside. My biggest fashion pet peeve. It is lazy and gross. If you show up to my class in pajama pants I will call you out for it.

But I have been awake since 4PM Tuesday and needed to get groceries. So after I found my face mask, latex gloves, and wallet I remembered I needed to put on outside pants. But I was tired and for a brief moment I thought "just wear the pajama pants. It's the end of the world. Nothing matters". But I fought the temptation. The Lord Almighty helped me fight the temptation and I put on a pair of khakis.

wearing pyjamas in public and to lectures was very a la mode when i was at university. essential uniform distinguishing the boarding school kids from the over-dressed plebs.

Did the police allow you to get dressed or were you wearing pajama pants?
