I am attempting to be cautious, because it seems just setting oneself up for a fall by liking a politician, but I largely strongly enjoying her tenure at present. A member of Congress roughly my age who's familiar with the issues people face, know what they're concerned about, has pretty much avoided trolls so far... it's refreshing.

It does worry me that I am getting joy from "triggering the cons", but I think the difference is she seems actually pretty competent. Their only memes about her are unflattering pictures and fake quotes.

the UK and US are extremely polarised by generation. i agree that people like AOC exhibit a tendency that is really strong in most people up to about 35 (not saying i am necessarily dyed in the wool follower of the thought but ...)

it’s funny that jay questions her intelligence when she is more successful and qualified in every metric, and literally speaks for an entire class of educated young adults, trying to find their political voice in america. meanwhile he fumbled through his idealistic phase with a few jumbled thoughts, a patchwork quilt with clashing patterns of garish ayn rand and hessian hegelian weave, and collapsed in a heap to spend the rest of his days mentally sunbathing with the national review.

the added irony of trump and co. using the rhetoric of ‘draining the swamp’. when’s the last time a republican challenged the establishment or made a tech/oil executive feel uncomfortable?

4chan memes, dilbert? how original.

who is it even meant to be aimed at?  the 'gloomer' stereotype are definitely not the people out voting for feel-good causes like AOC.

i'm not exactly au fait with 4chan memes nowadays, but i thought gloomers were meant to be the 4chan misanthropes who sit inside all day getting no joy from life. the incels crowd. the people who continually complain about baby boomers (isn't that you? now i think about it)

Quick take, he was "independently wealthy, outside the system, and not afraid to speak his mind," (nevermind the Republican ticket). That and recognizability Probably helped him got away schlock like "drain the swamp" and "make America great 'again.'"

The end of his tenure cannot come soon enough, but he'll probably still be sending outrageous, insensitive tweets from his eventual death bed that drives his unshakable base of bootlickers into fits of giggles.

wtf?

ICE created a fake university, then:

- enticed foreign-born students to attend
- charged them money
- arrested them
- deported them

Students had come legally on student visas, but since the school was fake the visas weren't valid ...

I really don't like the president but this impeachment is tedious. I know they have to do it right in order to maintain the legitimacy of the process yadda yadda. But this won't lead to his removal and it also won't convince his acolytes to defect. It seems like the Democrats needed something to do since the divided government prevents them from passing any real laws.

it's not meant to, it's just meant to be timed out to have maximum coverage through election time to produce as much negative press as possible for him

Have you seen what the Democrats have to offer as far as Presidential candidates? Trump actually has a chance. Also remember the last election where the majority of people thought Hillary would win, only for the shocker that Trump won much to the bewilderment of almost everyone, even Trump's voters.

Honestly if I were a betting man my money would be on Sanders rn, Trump just has just had too scandalous a presidency imo. even if half of it didn't stick, the guys name is fully tarnished in all but the most republican circles

Yang has less of a chance with his universal credit, that's gonna be a tough sell

just glad hillary isn't running and will never be president. what an absolute travesty that would have been for women everywhere.

Sanders is too old, at this point I'd bet on Trump.

- The democrats aren't putting up good candidates except maybe Bloomberg. Putting up Clinton against Trump (when Sanders won the democrat popular vote) was a massive mistake and they're dumb enough to do the same thing by selecting Biden.

- Everything the democrats do just enrages Trump's supporters, no amount of 'fake news' is going to sway any of them. A fake scandal isn't a scandal at all. I should think a lot of people think other countries should be giving something back for all the aid they receive, if that means helping the greatest President in history get re-elected, and preventing a corrupt and gropey old man getting the job then they're fine with it.

- He's learning how to rig the stock market and will have it all nicely timed for the election - vote for me or your 401k goes down

- A war with Iran will almost certainly be triggered so he gets the wartime vote

The chatterati underestimate populists over and over, Trump is another pathological nut who will ride populism for as long as he can.

Twelve more years! Twelve more years! Twelve more years!

bloomberg committed liberal suicide when he said that china wasn't a democracy and sided with them against hong kong

yeah i can see the dnc fucking it up for bernie, but if he gets the nomination I think he's got a pretty decent chance

not sure I agree with your comment that all trump supporters are cemented in, i feel like a lot of those who supported him for the drain the swamp idea, which has clearly been abandoned, dropped all support for him after that.

draining the swamp has 'clearly been abandoned' to whom? not to trump supporters, that's for sure. nobody on FOX is calling him out for failing to address washington's systemic issues. in fact, a lot of the FOX cabal are now in positions of power or great influence on capitol hill (e.g. tucker carlson). trump supporters don't perceive his hypocrisies or failures -- to them, it's one big 'fuck yea!'

populism is more like supporting a football team than acting on evidence and fact.

why are you lumping "trump supporters" into one big camp? half the entire voting base of the US is incapable of changing their mind about their candidate? every single one can be equated to a T_D poster? Absolutely nobody that voted for him did so because it was him or hillary?

Hillary, a more or less self-made woman = bad for women

Trump, a multiple-accused sexual assaulter, admitted groper, 3x married adulterer = no comment

Hillary was a supremely flawed candidate. Bad for women why?

put yourself in a chicks shoes. first female president, blasted worldwide and held up as this massive achievement ... and it's hillary. And it's off the back of corrupting the democratic nomination.

nowhere did I say trump being prez was good for women but again nice assumption
