It's shocking to me how many people are invested in it. When Star Wars VII came out, I was surprised by the people who said they hadn't seen any of the previous movies. Meanwhile, somehow a sizeable amount of people kept up with ~20 movies in this IP. I've only seen 3, and simply cannot believe the hype over generic superhero blockbuster du jour.
I don't get it either. I think I have only watched 3 or 4. For what it is worth, whenever I watched any of them they turned out to be okay movies.

It was OK I guess, a little schmaltzy, long but barely dragged, I would preferred for Captain Marvel to have had a slightly bigger role.

Also getting really sick of audiences, asians rattling around with their snacks and eating with their mouths open.
Phone behaviour was better than normal at least, and they seem to have a low-brightness mode now.
Next TV will be 65" with a sound system and I'll be able to watch most things at home.

It really is a game changer. Highly recommend.

Star Wars is coming out this year again. Meh

I don't care about all of the SJW stuff around it but the series is just boring in total. Jedi this, force that, light side/dark side stuff, etc. Nothing new or different ever happens in this galaxy.

i really don’t understand star wars. it was never good. it was literally the equivalent of a sci-fi PG-13 boogie nights upon release. it was always a corny space opera. why do people act so fanatical about it? i don’t even have the energy to dislike it. it just seems so predictably weak.

I think it's like with Dr. Who and Ayn Rand novels. They've been in the viewer/reader subconscious for so long that people just accept them as something amazing long after they should've become obscure. Also

e: One weird thing about Star Wars for me is that the newer movies don't really seem any better or worse, but you still get waves of smelly nerds condemning them in the same heavy breath they use to buy their fifth or sixth ticket.

I liked Episodes IV-VI as a dumb child, so perhaps that's why I didn't question the strangeness of it. However, as I've gotten older, I've had more questions that will take you right out of the movie while watching it. The Force as described in the beginning was almost a passive deity, but grew to essentially be "magic" as special effects budgets grew. Various other parts of the universe have been chipped away at and no longer make sense. The new movies don't feel like the original Star Wars either. There's a lot more sight gags and fourth-wall sort of things that seem more welcome in a Marvel blockbuster.

A podcast I was listening to was talking about Episode IX after the trailer came out and I share their interpretation that this is the last movie I am obligated to care about. Granted, there's been movies for multiple generations, so maybe they're not supposed to be for me.

As I said before, the whole thing is just stale. The Star Wars movies I liked best were Rogue One and Solo and that's because they got far away from the force, Skywalkers, lightsabers. They actually told interesting stories set in a fun and familiar universe.

I hope Game of Thrones doesn't fall into the same trap of focusing on the same group and places for 3 series and multiple movies. It's another big universe that I fear would be wasted.

Episode IV was OK but nothing special, I never gave a shit about the rest of them - except Rogue One which was the only other film where the characters had enough depth and personality for me to care if they lived or died.

Worth seeing if you can in an IMAX-like setting.  The visuals were amazing.

I saw Endgame over the weekend. I didn't like it as much as Infinity War.  I give it a 6/10.

The Sonic trailer puzzled me. Sure, the character looks a little better animated than in a freeze frame, but most of the thing was backdropped by Gangsta's Paradise. I think they were just looking for a hip song from the era, but now I can't get rid of the visual of Sonic & friends hailing from a bad part of town, selling crack and evading the Robotnik popo.

Also I didn't think he was fast enough to go into stop time mode and speedster-punch a bunch of missiles, but OK.

for me it made me cringe at the thought of michelle pfieffer as a inner-city school teacher trying to get tough with the students.

I have a white girl cousin who teaches in inner city Newark through Teach for America. They scream in her face and call her a white bitch. In reality MP would have gotten nowhere/

Inglourious Basterds 3/10

Stylish sadistic ultraviolence with no real merit, although good performances from the actors.

"But blah blah blah auteur blah blah blah wunderkind blah blah blah enfant terrible"
Not convinced

"But wasn't it awsm when the american jew smashed the nazis head in with a baseball bat? The overt and covert symbolism was like amazing!"
Not convinced

Diane Kruger is hot though, would be hotter in an SS outfit.

I don't think IB was meant to have any deeper meaning than something like nazi zombies for call of duty. In fact, I'd argue that the latter is more significant. No matter how many times the hordes are purged, they will always return monetized.
