not the way I've seen it used in some cases. a lotta "sjw-types" for lack of a better label will just ignore anything that comes out of your mouth that's critical of anything because you're white and therefore get the world handed to you on a silver platter, which is exactly as you've described, not the case. you still need to put in effort and apply yourself like anyone else.

I'm gonna bet the sum of Finny's interaction with "sjw'types" is some stupid tumblr subreddit.
they weren't chuffed, but they eventually gave up on me. they're pretty old fashioned, conservative, with a complete lack of understanding of basic psychology leading to a denial that having a traumatic upbringing potentially had something to do with my underachievement. i'm well above-average intelligence wise, but had a lot of repression, a lack of social skills, coping mechanisms and desire to apply myself. I still remember vividly at about 16 saying point blank to my dad's face that maybe I should see a therapist, only for him to reply "nah you're fine! you don't need that!" well here I am 10 years later having had a couple of bouts of anti-depressants and am now seeking a therapist. can't help but wonder how differently things could have gone if I'd been able to make that appointment.

it’s a huge cultural influence on nerdy millennials, not culture at large. you do not have a great perspective. the things that matter to reddit do not matter to most intelligent and culturally engaged people. it’s s giant echo-chamber.
it's not just nerdy millennials, it's a mainstream millennial site now. there's been a noticeable shift from the incel bedroom keyboard jockeys of days gone by, now everyone and a lot of their mums know about the site. also i reject that it's just intelligent and culturally engaged people that sway social practices, it's everyone, and the people pushing the envelope are the up and coming generation, ie millennials. you can also see the effects widespread, in new media on youtube, all the "did you just assume my gender?", "that's just white privilege" jokes, and it's even making its way into traditional media. so yes, the social culture shifts that manifest on the internet can effect mainstream social interacting.

you don't need to be a mod or have your own subreddit to be influenced like that, this type of language is prevalent in the default subreddits.

nah i never had a grasp on the type of customer service they wanted, was too friendly and personal rather than a face of the company, goofed off, ate on shift at the tills, turned up late a couple times. i half-assed my way through school and tried to apply the same ethic to an actual job, so no wonder they shitcanned me.
supermarkets are soulless but they don’t exaxtly expect you to behave like you work for PWC. lmao. you basically were a gas attendant at walmart.
