Sums him up pretty nicely, his main problem in my eyes are his frequent links/meetings over the years with the IRA, HAMAS etc.

But there's a big difference between talking and chummying up, an irrelevant backbencher has no business talking to terrorists.
Exactly, particularly when said backbencher was against the processes which led to the Good Friday Agreement, and proudly boasted about voting against every piece of anti terrorism legislation put before him.
Clearly not every MP is going to agree with all of them, but voting against every single one doesn't really chime with them being carefully considered on their own merit.
Attending IRA funerals also seems to be rather beyond his remit.
