Tried to buy a Remington 870 Express yesterday but I got hit with a delay on my ATF background check. They said it happens all the time to veterans who had security clearances

Because I've been looked into before they flag me to find out why. It then gets passed up the bureaucratic chain.

The time limit for them to process a delay claim is three days though, not indefinite, so whether it eventually gets approved or not, I can pick it up tomorrow.

What made you decide to buy an 870 Express after all?  Seemed like you weren't interested.

Also, bought this a couple days ago and should be here later today:

Stag Arms 3GHL complete upper with 18" fluted & freefloated heavy barrel.  Maryland requires all AR-15s sold or made after 2013 to be HBARs so I figured I might as well build off the inherent advantages of a heavy barrel.  I'm not crazy about that compensator on the end but it comes for free and I can always unscrew it and put something else on, maybe a suppressor once the Hearing Protection Act passes in a few months and it's not such a pain in the ass to buy one.  Also, the picture isn't flipped, that is indeed a left-handed receiver.  I have to shoot southpaw because of my left-eye dominance and messed up right eye and I'm sick of hot brass and sometimes GSR hitting me in the arm & face like my Keltec does.

Still waiting on my ambi 80% lower to get here, gotta get my cousin to help me machine it into a 100%, and then I have to buy all the other lower parts for it like a stock, trigger, and a few specific Southpaw-specific parts like the Norgon Ambi-Catch and an ambidextrous safety.

Neighborhood breakins by an addict scared my wife into letting me buy one. It was cheap and had a rebate.

As a lefty, I've never shot a left-handed gun. That should really be something I get around to at some point.

the addicts cross town to the areas where it's all mock-tudor wattle-and-daub properties. something about the kitsch exteriors convinces them they're in the presence of upper-middle class plenty.

I do, but drugs are a helluva drug. Kids go bad in good neighborhoods too

A black man did something I perceived as threatening to me today. He is lucky I don't have a CCW.

I was using an ATM at 10PM. I had reason to expect a robbery.

Pretty soon I'll be able to get my pistol-purchasing permit in Maryland, and I'm debating on which one I should get for my first pistol.

The gun store guy was saying since the military is switching to the Sig P320, the market is about to soon be flooded with relatively very cheap Beretta M9s that should be going for around $300, and I was thinking about getting one and buying a Model 96 conversion kit with the slide & barrel for .40S&W but they don't make those kits anymore.  Still I love the grip on the Berettas but I have heard bad things about their reliability in .40 so I'm kind of torn between the Beretta 96A1 and the Glock 22(full-sized .40).  I'll probably just go with the Glock since they're easier to source, known for being reliable and the Gen 4 has interchangeable grip backings which is good because the Gen 3 Glock 17 I held in the store was too bulky.  I have tons of .40 ammo that I originally bought for the Keltec so it doesn't make much sense to suddenly switch to 9mm

Get a snub nose revolver. It looks cool and it is more reliable.

I've though about getting a snubby .357 somewhere down the line.  Might make a good concealed carry gun if the concealed carry reciprocity act passes and then I can carry in MD.

Maybe this stubby version of the Smith & Wesson 686 my dad already has: https://snwcdnprod.azureedge.net/sites/default/files/styles/product_main/public/firearms/images/164192_01_lg.jpg?itok=YD7BPYpD

Starting the process to buy a handgun. I only need a .22 caliber pistol.

What kind of pistol should I get?

If he feels unjustly singled out, he could always petition the NRA for support. Those guys have no qualms about recreational animal torture.

Not sure which gun I should buy. I want a small .22 caliber pistol.

Should I get the Uzi style because it is scary looking

or go for a revolver because it is more practical?
