not to sound like an asshole or anything but a theme is not the same thing. the great directors of the world are preoccupied with the same themes throughout their work. kubrick's movies are very different but they all have a theme and are unmistakably his. having the same 4 cookie-cutter characters, the exact same plot, borrowed shots, and the same 3 costumes and props is a cop-out. star wars could be so much bigger and they could develop their intellectual property so much. of course, they won't, because it's too big to fail. franchises of this size are as conservative as any cultural product can be. it's weird that people say 'rogue one' is this liberating new direction. i mean, really?
I don't think you're sounding like an arsehole and I see what you mean.

I didn't think it was some new direction at all, and if people have been saying that... well, that's kinda weird.

I personally enjoyed the movie but it wasn't exactly straying from the franchise, I'll give you that.

More raiders than spies but whatever.
The point probably is the Empire renamed them spies to disguise their defeat.

Here's another picture of Felicity Jones.

I like girls called Felicity, and Natalia.

It is still very weird how Lucas handled Padme's and Anakin's relationship. Portman was 19 at the filming of Phantom Menace. There had to have been a better way to introduce their relationship than having a 19 year old feign interest in a 9 year old.

Passengers - 8/10

I really liked it, it started out a little trite and the science was very soft but both actors are very personable and it all flowed well.
The final part of the ending was just a little sappy, but the key part for me was the sentiments which weren't stated overtly - (I think the key to the key was a line in the trailer which I don't think was in the film) however paraphrasing Homer Simpson I don't need to go to the cinema to hear stuff which isn't said so I don't know.
Nearly forgot, the hero was a mechanical engineer, who was a bit sad and lonely but basically an OK guy - if a bit pervy.

About time people.

I didn't really get the impression that she was all that interested in him beyond strained politeness until #2/#3. If anything, Anakin showed weird interest  for his age. That shoehorned scene with his space angels pick up line makes me wince every time.

Suppose there were ultimately worse royal marriages for her than a pretentious, psychopathic space wizard, but very damn few. I can't help but think it would've been a better guilt developer if she choked on that innocuous bit of floating fruit during one of Anakin's moments of lucidity rather than suffocate on his heady prom night with the dark side.

Personally, I found Adventure Time to be far more engaging than Star Wars.

I saw the remake of Magnificent 7. I thought it was decent for what it was.  Super cheesy, but entertaining while on a plane. 5/10

True Romance 8/10.

Funny seeing so many famous actors in minor roles before they became big stars. James Gandolfini, Chris Penn, Brad Pitt , Val Kilmer, and Samuel L. Jackson all have minor roles while Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, and Gary Oldman play important characters.

So Moonlight won the best picture award. Another depressing black movie. Why do all their movie have to be such downers?

"Another?" It's a movie with black people, directed by a black dude. First of its kind to ever win best picture afaik. Would you even have brought it up if it wasn't a black movie? "Oh, darn. A white movie won."

And "depressing?" What's depressing is that you think it's funny to poison your family's pet animal and post twisted comments about it on the internet to farm attention.

Pass.

It's not the Australian actors hamming up southern drawls that turns me off. It's Mel Gibson's psychotic, gleeful sadism gilded with religious bunk, and the sheer exploitative nature of it all that I'd rather not watch. If I want horror, I'll cut to the chase and watch a Carpenter or Barker flick.
