Got tickets for George Thorogood show with Brian Setzer as well in a few months. Not bad considering how few of the bands I want to see are still together/alive.

ive been to a few of the classic car meetups in vegas (usually around mid April I think?) and it's probably 90% rockabilly.  But its a really good time and it's fun people watching.

Last week I bought a pre-sale ticket to Soundwave 2016.

Only just now I read about a rumour that the original line up of Guns n Roses are rumoured to headline. Shit be cray.

(Cherry Bar is one of Melbourne's more reputable live music venues and the owner is bound to have a bunch of great industry contacts).

Fratellis are coming to Chicago in a couple weeks and I'm more pumped than I've probably ever been for a show. They certainly gotta include this in the set (it's the Blackhawks goal song, if you weren't aware).

Costello Music did seem to have a handful of ones that became reasonably well-known, but there are a lot of good ones on the subsequent albums as well. I don't care if they're hit singles, I like the songs.

Yeah fair enough, as I said Chelsea Dagger is the only one I'm really aware of, would probably know some others they've done if I heard them but just not off hand.
Didn't mean a band has to have had loads of hits for you to go see them, if you like them, you like them.

Prodigy last night was 10/10. As always. Old farts still know how to entertain.

Saw Jake Bugg last night as well. The show was sold out, probably because tickets were only $9 (though kicked up to $15 at purchase by Chicago "entertainment fees"). Went with a few of my friends and it was a very lovely evening.

There was a car alarm that went off during the night that was probably more up your alley.

you do realise these 'rock' acts are confected in a studio somewhere near nottingham or camden for 15 year old girls right?

my point is that america has its own authentic, autochthonous rock culture (hell the UK does too but it sure isn't this). there is nothing compelling or redeeming about these manufactured teen-idol acts that the NME showbiz shitshow manufactures. not some 'hurr durr rock music is lame' remark.

If that's the fanbase in the UK, alright, you'd know more about that than I would, but they certainly aren't teen-idol acts here. Fall more into the indie rock and hipster sort. If we were talking about One Direction, I'd be in complete agreement with you because quite literally their fanbase is only teenage girls.

i am not talking about one direction at all. there is a manufactured indie rock industry just like there is a manufactured pop industry. they are more akin to one another than the fratellis are to 'real' rock. i'm surprised that stuff filters through to you guys over there, hence my comment. the fratellis were like the nadir of a wave of 101 identical bands that were manufactured in the wake of the libertines. utterly talentless bands all making boilerplate music to try and score as many hits as possible whilst the fad was riding high. cf. the kooks, the view, the pigeon detectives, the enemy, the view, the the, the the thes, etc. you should feel bad if you like any of these bands because they are fucking insipid.
