Your point, exactly?

Japanese American service in World War II
. . . all of them doing so under a level of American racial prejudice and scrutiny, in the midst of innocent Japanese-Americans losing their homes, businesses, jobs, and freedom for no good reason.

How is this thread even real right now?

Is that supposed to be your trump card? She makes a case for aggressive racial profiling while rejecting her Filipino heritage (I'm an American) in the same breath.

Why are you bringing up her Filipino heritage? Can't you judge her opinion without playing the race card?

A lot of my college friends are reporting that they have to work with human resource people who are obvious immigrants. Their accents, among other things, are dead giveaways that they weren't born here. That makes my skin crawl. Are wages for American HR people so high that they must bring over foreigners to do their job? Why are foreigners managing Americans like resources at our jobs? There is obviously something wrong when an immigrant is the gatekeeper to the American workplace.

I don't see the US interning German and Italian Americans during WW2 when there are actual pro-nazi organisations like the bund.

that's because those immigrants were white and the people back then use these sorts of programs as an excuse to flex their racism muscles.

Why wouldn't I bring it up? She already did in a former interview, de-emphasizing her own heritage in favor of calling herself American. Seems pretty hypocritical to me that on top of that, she backs racial profiling against other people.

Do you understand how bringing up her race in order to invalidate her opinion is problematic? You should argue the facts and merit of her idea instead of playing gotcha games about her being Filipino.

In any case, I don't care about Japanese internment. I would like to talk about how having foreigners being the gatekeeper to employment and regulators of the workplace is wrong. How can American workplace culture be managed by people who aren't Americans legally or culturally?

I think ever
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

It's not problematic because it's apparent that she thinks racial profiling is valid against everyone but her. As to your second thing, do you even have a job?

For how long? Why do you feel dominated? Do you have an immigrant boss? How is Malkin relevant?

7 years. I don't feel dominated. My boss is Italian American. You brought up Japanese internment

Seven years isn't long. If you don't feel dominated, why are you complaining about it. According to Malkin, he's not; your boss is American. And no, I didn't bring it up; what's wrong with your memory?

7 years is a long time to hold a job, absolutely.  I'm in my 30s and i've been at my current job for about 7.5 years and it's the longest i've ever worked for one place.

HR people aren't there to manage the workplace. The idea that someone can't perform the function because of their ethnicity is silly.  There is not some inherently unique "American workplace culture".  Companies definitely have a particular culture, but to expect that a non-white person can't perform those duties is as silly as saying Mexicans can't be doctors.

hey man, we're just a couple neurons paddling a canoe down a MacB synapse-wormhole.

US companies exploiting visa laws -> immigrants ruin the social fabric of America -> immigrants can't perform US job functions as well as American citizens.

I'd say it's about par for the course on this forum

What I meant to say is that seven years isn't a long time to be working at all. But ... Jay's right, we could.

A number of displaced Disney IT workers have given interviews on their experience (Google search has one as recent as today), and it's as much like what you'd expect. Feelings of betrayal coupled with resentment at being pushed into training your replacement for a little bonus before the end, and knowing you and other Americans are being replaced by imports at a time when jobs are a prize commodity. This doesn't seem like an issue that will go away for quite some time.

I find it funny that companies are willing to risk a lot of their IT infrastructure overseas given that cybersecurity is such an important thing to major corporations.

A lot of the IT work is getting into parity now as wages in Asia have been rising quite substantially. There is an issue of trust as well. If you pay an engineer 1000 USD a month to work on a multimillion dollar project and he sees his western counterparts being paid a lot more, you can bet your ass he's going to sell a lot of corporate secrets.

I'm just going to think back to this each time I read one of your D&ST posts as a reminder to simply file it in the trash can.
