the Biggar they are, the harder they fall . . .
That went just as I predicted - for once.
I was happy with the win and not really being a rugby man was a bit nieve.
Am I right in thinking AUS have changed almost the entire team for the match v ENG?
If ENG win, Wales wont make the qtr's. Eng will batter Uraguy and pick up the boner point.
I forgot to predict another of our match winners will be fucked up during the match, glad Hook got on, he's not a cock like some of the others and it looked like he really wanted to impress, almost too much.

The team is at the bottom, its still a strong team isnt it? They started strong vs Fiji and have gone back to that team? Am I right?

I'm honestly not sure about Australia. They had a good, (shortened,) Rugby Championship but they had the benefit of playing both the All Blacks and Springboks at home. Since then they've been pretty average. They got clobbered by the All Blacks in the second Bledisloe test, performed fairly poorly against the US, and then they've had two World Cup games against teams they were always going to beat. They've named a team similar to the one they named for Fiji which surprises me as the Wallabies didn't do particularly well against Fiji. I think Michael Cheika has a lot of misplaced faith in teaming up openside flankers Hooper and Pocock as 7 and 8 respectively because it seemed to work against the All Blacks in Sydney. I don't see any great advantage to it though.
If England beats Australia as my gut says they will it most likely means Wales won't go through without also beating Australia. However if England wins and denies Australia a losing bonus point, Australia must beat Wales by more than seven points or beat them by scoring at least four tries to be confirmed a spot in the next round. Otherwise, if Australia just beats Wales and no-one gets any bonus points, it comes down to points differential which, unless Wales picks up an extra 20 points somewhere, will mean England and Australia will progress.
Would have helped a bit if Wales got that bonus point against Fiji. Just that little bit of extra security.
Still, anything can happen. If Australia beats England it's all over.
All Blacks played their third game today. Another average performance which is fine, so long as they wake up for the matches that matter. That win sees them qualify for the quarter finals.

Well I might be wrong, Australia is playing brilliantly, completely in control. I guess they are good again. Probably the best form I've seen from a team in a tier one vs tier one match so far.
England desperately needs a fetcher, someone who can win the ball back. Australia has two so they can halt some pretty good England attacks but every time Australia get some attacking steam up England can't do much about it. Bernard Foley is having a fantastic game for Australia, scoring all 17 points so far and working some very smart attacking moves. Mike Brown is having a shocker for England, three mistakes from him leading to Australia's first ten points, (probably had a hand in the other seven too.)
The bad news: My prediction will probably be wrong. Nothing in the first half suggested England can turn this around, they'll have to implement a different plan and even then it will be tough.
The good news: It will mean Wales qualifies for the quarter finals! And potentially they could face Australia without Michael Hooper who committed a nasty shoulder charge he probably should have been binned for, no doubt the match review panel will have a look at it.
Edit: England aren't giving up though, only seven points in it with 15 to play.
Edit: England's World Cup is over! One of the best Australian performances in I've ever seen. 13-33, an absolute caning. Australia and Wales go through to the quarter finals, order to be determined.
England were brave but lacked everything that makes a winning team. Bossed in the scrum, bossed in the breakdown, their attack looked good but lacked any killer blows, their defence inadequate. Sad for them but no doubt that they are simply not a very good team at the moment.

I need Ireland to beat France! I want that re-match at Millennium Stadium! I want the All Blacks to wear their alternate kit! I even want Wayne bloody Barnes to officiate it! Even though the All Blacks aren't playing particularly well at the moment and this all risks a repeat of 2007 I think the catharsis if they win will be worth it. If Ireland loses to France I don't get this. That game against Italy wasn't particularly convincing, hope they bring it against France and win top spot in the pool. But not by too much, France tends to play way better after a thumping.

Superb weekend of chasing eggs. I only watched the one game, thanks Strayer. Lets have a party next Saturday at HQ
Looks like Michael Hooper will be getting sanctioned for his arse-brained tackle on Mike Brown so Wales might not have to deal with "The Pooper" combo.

Yes! And we get to play France at the Millennium! Please someone give Wayne Barnes the whistle. This could either be deeply cathartic or shatteringly hilarious, I'm looking forward to it either way.
France would be more comfortable facing the All Blacks than Ireland would be even though Ireland are a better team. Surely after 1999, 2007, and even 2011 the All Blacks can't be taking the French lightly, surely enough lessons have been learned. Already some in the media, (Mark fucking Reason,) are talking down France's chances. I wish they wouldn't. France are not as good as the All Blacks sure, but they lift, they can play ferociously, and they can play dirty. That combined with a below par performance by the All Blacks and maybe a few referee calls can be enough to end the party early.
This will be the seventh time we've played France in a World Cup. We've only lost twice but France still stands out as a bogey team. Hope we can dilute that perception.
Meanwhile Ireland can't take the Pumas lightly, they are a deceptively good side and have benefited significantly from four years in the Rugby Championship. They'll be tough.
So quarters, (I'll try and get it right this time.)
Australia vs. Scotland
South Africa vs. Wales
New Zealand vs. France
Ireland vs. Argentina

Ireland will be the only team from the home nations with a chance to win it come this time next week.
We wont beat SA
Scotland wont beat AUS.
I hope its a NZ v AUS final as that would do it justice

I'd be keen to see a New Zealand vs. Australia final. It's never happened before which seems strange. It should have happened last time but Australia went and lost to Ireland in the pool stages meaning we had to beat them in the semi final.
Of course that would mean:
Netball World Cup Final - Aus vs NZ
League World Cup Final - Aus vs NZ
Cricket World Cup Final - Aus vs NZ
Rugby World Cup Final - possibly Aus vs NZ.
You guys are lucky we suck at football.
Unfortunately Australia won the first three. Comfortably too. By what we've seen so far the Aussies are in better form. Either way that's two rounds away and it's not helpful for anyone to think too far ahead, I doubt this World Cup has given the last of its surprises.

if we get sexton back (although madigan was fantastic tbf) and we only lose o'brien for the quarters i think we actually have a chance to go the way this time. sadly we've almost certainly seen o'connell pull on the green for the last time ):
'27 i think you guys have the quality to beat SA, but you really can't afford a single more injury

I'll have to take your word for it, im far from any kind of expert and I havent seen SA play yet. I did say though they could go on and win it only because sport does that too you after you lose when you shouldnt. I'll keep my fingers crossed for us but I just think its a game too far now, too many on crutches etc. He still wouldnt pick Adam Jones though, if required to do so.
From what I gather the French and even more so The Irish loved Sunday in Cardiff and both sets suggesting Cardiff is the best rugby city in the world.
Its an absolute pleasure to host rugby fans from across the world here, much better than when football fans were throwing bricks around. The only rugby trouble we have is 6 nations when Valley's steroid boys come down on the trains.
TY - Aus and New Zealand are probably the best at hockey too (male). Females would be Aus and Holland, so fucking hot those girls, none of your ugly lezza's, you know the pornhub type lezzo, not the Cell block H type lezza.

Are you sure? Australia maybe the best team, but NZ doesn't figure at all. Second place would go to the Netherlands or Germany.1927 wrote:
