I've had to do exactly this a few times.

I do have the equivalent of a few years of experience through many municipal government short-term contracts, which actually makes this situation even more frustrating. I have to fill out 4 different job descriptions instead of 1 to prove my 2-3 years of experience.

Passed the first physical. Assuming I pass the background check, and lie detector test, I will have a second physical and then off to the academy. Have to diet and eat healthy.

Bought a bunch of fruit to snack on. Produce is so cheap. There's no excuse for an upper income person to be obese when healthy food is so cheap and abundant.

i find once you force yourself to eat healthy for a while, your tastebuds come back around to more subtle, muted flavours. you can really get into the flavour of a raw carrot. these things aren't absolutely tasteless (unless you're one of those hyper-health dudes who only eat water and oatmeal and several plain portions of chicken breast a day...) in general, having shitloads of sugar and salt in everything gives you about as much taste refinement as a pig in muck.

You can eat whatever you want as long as your portion size is rational. My personal problem is breakfast. Love me some sausage egg and cheese in the morning.

The 2 for $3 McDonald's breakfast sandwiches are to die for. I rarely get them mostly because I would feel bad about myself when I finish.

I cut my large flavored iced coffee from my morning routine. Now breakfast is just a bagel with cream cheese. Not NY style either.

Except the bacon and egg muffin and hashbrowns, which are decent. Although the egg is always overcooked and the hashbrown too greasy.
