It's weird that they picked 3 different directors to film the next 3 movies. J.J. Abrams will still be executive director though.
The original trilogy were all directed by different people and look how that turned out.
Your right. The prequels were all directed by Lucas and those turned out poorly. I think the fact that GL is not involved in any way is for the best. There were probably many instances were someone telling GL "NO" might have improved I-III
Nah I'll accept it as it isn't a deal breaker for me, just saying I like the old helmets better.coke wrote:

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.

Oh believe me, I understand completely the reasoning and it isn't a big issue.coke wrote:

Is anyone watching the HBO miniseries "Show me a hero" that just started? It is made by David Simon of The Wire. It is getting great reviews and I like it.
Hey Taz, not sure if you read every post on this site, but since you're fixing up the place do you think you could take a look at the forum emailer? I really would rather use my original account that I no longer have the password for, but the emailer is broken so I can't get a new one.
Best,
Pox.

Breaking bad was overrated. Pretty lousy in a lot of ways.
how so? I'd love to hear your reasons why so i can dismiss them in a sub 10 word sentence.
Let's not do this again.
It was basically a WASP nerd revenge fantasy.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

You are aware that white people aren't automatically WASPs, right? And that no mention of nerds is made in that article? And that the entire premise is based on the authors certainty that the character really is motivated by "x" when he's saying "y"?SuperJail Warden wrote:

I never said that all white people were WASP. Walter himself definitely was anyway. Many sociologist use the term as a blanket reference to white Americans.

I shouldn't have said that though. It was racist of me. Sorry.

Would almost agree if season 6 never existed. Johny cakes. Events that happened in the sopranos were less surprising as well.
It took Breaking Bad until it's 3rd season to really hit it's stride. Sopranos was a pop culture phenomenon from Season 1. Sopranos was also a lot more popular with reviewers from the start. At Rotten Tomtoes, Sopranos Season 1 has a 100% score from Top critics as opposed to BB's 78%

So Sopranos was objectively more critically acclaimed. It was so because Sopranos is a more difficult show to understand. Breaking bad was an easy show. It was on basic cable and had coke commercials in between. It was castrated from the start by being on a T.V. channel that needed to appease advertisers. The Sopranos was allowed to do its own thing and experiment in a way that wouldn't fly on a channel that needed X amount of viewers to sell commercial time. Soprano's was so complex that you had to watch an episode a second time to understand something or pick up on references/symbolism. It was not an easy show meant to appeal to 16 year olds who parents were okay with them watching something on A&E because 'it's basic cable, it won't be graphic''. Sopranos was targeting a higher brow and older audience from the start. It was show about a middle aged mob boss and father who was dealing with the anxiety of aging and managing a family. BB was about a school teacher and slacker student who got together to sell drugs. The premise is juvenile and was why it took 3 seasons for the show to start going anywhere.
And even if BB was a better thing to watch, Sopranos will go down in history as a ground breaking show. There was nothing like it on T.V. at the time. It ushered in dark drama television shows. Your Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, True Detective, etc. all owe Sopranos for setting the stage for society to accept dark gritty shows were violence and nudity were front and center. Also, Breaking Bad's "middle aged man struggling against society" mainframe was a t.v. drama path that was paved and perfected by Sopranos better for it. Skyler was a less complex Carmela Soprano. etc.
