You my friend act as if every individual American is the cause of this perception, not to mention that every single American is responsible for everything that goes on in this country in the policitcal and military arena... While im flattered that you think i personally am responsible for what this country does as whole on an international level, im afraid to break the news to you. I can only affect what happens in my house... a 2000 sqft home. and the 1/4 acre lot that my house sits on. Other then that im afraid the other 24,859.82 miles - 1/4 acre, i have absolutely no control over. Sorry to disappoint you, maybe i could find a way to extent my reign of terror another acre or so in the future, but as of right now 1/4 acre is all i am subsequently able to terrorize. i hope that helps sway your opinion of indivdual American's otherwise your just being racist. And that my friend is nothing but someone that is ignorant in some form or fashion.doc. josh wrote:

another reason why some people hate the USA

I'm proud of my country and the actions it has taken in the past, but I am also found of the nations my ancestors came from. (Germany and Ireland). I don't believe my nation is an better than other nations, it's just a matter of being better in different qualities. The nation of America handles some issues better than, as an example, Australia, whose gun control stance I disagree with, but I am certain there are issues that Australia has handled better than the US. It's all a matter of perception.
i like some Americans but my country seems to get fucked over by everything ur country does (policy wise)e.g. u go to iraq we go too, ur industrial relations get fucked over so do ours.
Yet an other good point of why you should not hate the USA, its NOT its people that do this, but a small group of military personnel.BN wrote:

You got these kind of "Bad" people every where, USA-Europe-Asia you name it, USA is big thus lots of smacktards but then again lots of friendly people as well as on any place of the world, i also think that politics screw up basically any where, i don't like our politics either, just a couple of immature Muppet's who do stuff to make it the other politician harder but while they do it ruin the country.
My personal opinion about the states? i like it i haven't been ther yet, but planning on going there next year summer, ive spoken to Americans on TS plenty of times, sharing ideas etc etc, there not bad at all and most of all a good sense of humor

This country has its problems but is always the first to help someone out in the world, on the other hand we are the first to use our muscle almost with total disregard too the rest of the united world.
I have said time & time again that the system of government needs fixed, but no one knows where to start & even if they did the powers that be would squash them like a bug.
We need a society that will bring out the best in every individual & take them as far as they can go & where they want to go.
Thats how it is suppose to be but it has many cracks into which you can fall & no one to pick you up.
Originally we created the usa to have less government involvement in our lives, but the people of today want them involved more & more{i.e. Katrina} , unfortunately we breed the type of people now.
TV raised kids, drugs, violence , it's almost as if we have too much freedom.
Say what you want though , I've been all over the world, America is still the best place imo , everything is so accessible & easy to get, if you work hard you will get decent money. You never realize how pampered we are until you go to another country & see the restrooms.

Good Thomas Jefferson Quote Random-Hero58. I have already Karmad you today so maybe tommorow again.
Dont know the exact quote but, "Those who give up a little freedom to obtain security deserve neither freedom nor security." That was either Jefferson or Franklin I think.

We aren't the first to help someone out in the world. We are the first to take action that furthers the self interest of our country. Bring up the India thing, and then just realize that we weren't the first to make such a humanitarian act. Even so, they are our ally, and it is even of self interest were we to make the first donation. It was a combined effort for restoration after their little tsunami. Our country isn't one revolvant upon ideas of humanitarian aid, although, by its nature, it of course fosters organizations and assembles that are (revolvant upon...).
I have said time & time again that the system of government needs fixed, but no one knows where to start & even if they did the powers that be would squash them like a bug.
What needs fixing? Why would resolutionists be obliterated in an attempt?

Socialist/communist traits. Our societal government is a passive one that merely provides the opportunity for this - doesn't bring it out.
Thats how it is suppose to be but it has many cracks into which you can fall & no one to pick you up.
What cracks? Slumping into trances of laziness, "experimentation" with drug useage, or an inadequacy at prioritizing?
Originally we created the usa to have less government involvement in our lives, but the people of today want them involved more & more{i.e. Katrina} , unfortunately we breed the type of people now.
Regardless, even a country of this theoretical system that projects its administration into the community in just a minor manner would still commission a reponse for recovery. I think the differential between a government where authority is just a little part of life within that country, and one where it is a large part of life, is that all sects of the society would take a hit in order to progress past the setbacks of the disaster. In the USA, it's more of a normalization that the federal system is attempting to contribute to these victims. IMHO, our government is most assuredly quite passive in domestic methodology.
TV raised kids, drugs, violence , it's almost as if we have too much freedom.
Clarify this last statement? Are you saying that television raised drugs and violence...?
Say what you want though , I've been all over the world, America is still the best place imo , everything is so accessible & easy to get, if you work hard you will get decent money. You never realize how pampered we are until you go to another country & see the restrooms.
America is no different from any other country, there are good people and bad people...you will never like everyone.
Don't judge an entire country by one person (Bush haters). In the end it is the one country in the world that more people want to visit/live in than any other country in the world, other than where they are currently living.
America has its good points and bad points but in the end, while I currently live in Switzerland for work, there is no place in the world I would rather live or raise children. I will always support my country whatever happens. God bless the USA!!

I say shut them down from everything and anything we have of theirs. Examples....alaskan pipelines running through our country. Majority of all power they recieve comes from us. 87% of all uraniam comes from us, hmm no nuclear powered anything, ie plants, ships, subs. Lumber, beef, fresh water
1. the Gulf war was about Iraq Invading Kuwait if I remember right and you were in the navy for 11 years.
2. Your beef had Mad Cow Disease as someone else also said. What right do we have not to eat diseased beef
3. You dont own our fresh water supply. The great lakes are at least half ours and we do have one of the largest rivers in the world in the Mississippi. Largest man made lake in the world I think is Lake Mead near Las Vegas Nevada by the Grand Canyon.
4. you cut what resources we get from you and we will cut what you get from us and see who last longer
5. We have plenty of Lumber, Beef, and Fresh water. The pipeline could be rerouted then we wouldnt have to pay your country for the right to run it through. As far as uranium Im sure we have enough in stock to last a few years. Soft wood grows fast thats why its soft so we can grow our own.
Ok.... my two cents here...
I do believe in the liberal right of freedom of speech (yes, you read right... freedom of speech is a liberal right). Therefore, I do take the liberty of voicing my opinion AND I do grant this liberty to anyone else as well, wether I do agree or not.
Some people might want to call me anti-american, but I would like to introduce you to a differentiated view.
First of all, I do not hate Americans..... most of them, I do not even know personally, so what could they have done to arouse my hate? Actually, due to my job, I work mostly with Americans and I do not have any problem with them at all.
Do I hate America? No. America, or, to be more precise, the US are a country. It is a non living entity.... strictly speaking, a country is a construct based on an agreement written down on paper... nothing more, nothing less. How can something inanimate arouse hate in me? I take this to be rather impossible.
You see, I do not agree with the current US American foreign policy.... I think, it is outright wrong... but this is my opinion... you have the right to disagree with it which is fine by me. The exchange, discourse and agreement/disagreement is something I take as natural to humanity as breathing. The problem is, that noone was able to convice me of the righteousness of the present course of US foreign policy yet. I think it to be wrong to agree to something as it were a dogma, but if people choose to do so... fine... they should not try to convince me by bashing on me though.
I do disagree with the current US government (just for the record: I do disagree with my own government as well). If you take that as anti-american rhethoric... well... that is your problem... I guess, you should try to voice your opinion different than along the lines of "I'm gonna kick your ass, you anti-american fuck". Don't try to deny the rights you claim for yourself to others... that would be the best way to be taken seriously... Arguments are best won by the means of reasoning, not by the means of bashing.

The only comment I'm going to make, is that the poll allows Americans to vote in shades of grey, whilst the rest of the world must vote in black and white. People need to learn to ask nuetral questions.

as far as no need for a military, that's a foolish thing to think.
That's like saying you have no need for health insurance. You buy health insurance with the intention of never using it, but you're a fool if you do need it and don't have it.
You don't train a military with the intention of using it, but in the event you ever need one, you're Screwed.
Furthermore, there are people out there who just look for blood. Do you not think that they will attack the defenseless before they attack a military superpower?
You're blind in your hatred for America. Purely blind. You're uneducated. You speak in generalizations to hide the truth that you only know what you have been told. You have NO idea how much the Euro is worth in US Dollars. You probably don't even know what the employment rate measures. You think that it's a good thing that the government subsidizes the jobless, never thinking that in reality it is subsidizing laziness.
Read a book, my friend.

We have a National Guard and a small military force. We don't have any need for a substantial military force as we're traditionally a very neutral country, surrounded by other NATO countries.G3|Genius wrote:

I know what employment rate measures, and I know that it's a completely bogus measurement. Comparing the percentages of employed people over 15 years of age between two completely different societies with completely different views on employment and retirement will never give any sort of accurate picture.G3|Genius wrote:

It is infact so irrelevant that I had trouble finding evidence of your claims through google searches, so I'm going to go along with the more obvious choice of unemployment rate.
The US unemployment rate is at around 4,8% (source)
The Danish unemployment rate is at around 4,8% aswell. (source)
Also, in employment rates, the higher the number, the more people employed. I'd be alarmed if your employment rate was 5%.
My hatred for America? In this very thread, in the posts you've replied to, I've made it abundantly clear that not only do I have nothing particular against the US, but I'm even moving there in two years! I'm uneducated? I speak in generalisations? You see someone who isn't American and you instantly assume that the currency of my country is Euro, that I hate the US, that I love welfare and that I'm uneducated? Holy hell, this is a hypocrisy overload. I really, really hope you quoted the wrong person, 'cause I really don't see how this could be directed towards me.G3|Genius wrote:

As I posted in another thread there were a myriad of reasons for the second gulf war, all you need to do is Google the resoulution to read it, what was the coalition supposed to do, wait a second decade for the UN to write nasty letters explaining how angry they were and not actually doing anything to enforce Saddam's terms of surrender? As for George Bush's "speechin' skillz" you show me a fast talker and I'll show you someone full of shit.
Let me put it that way... basically the voicing of opinions in some kind of forum has the purpose of imprinting your own opinions on others. BUT the difference is: By just voicing your opinion in some kind of neutral way and backing you opinion up with goof reasons, you leave the choice up to the others wether to assimilate you opinion or not. That is fine and does not violate any liberties. But if your try to induce a forceful change without offering any good reasons, your are violating the rights of others... and you put yourself in a very tenuous position.Cheddarmuff wrote:

Some other of my opinions:
Freedom of speech is precipitated by freedom of choice.
Deny the rights of others deny the same rights to me.
Forcefully imposing your own view on things upon others negate all freedoms and rights you want to bestow upon others as you deny the basic freedom of choice.
