The queen is on a lot of currencies. She's not only the queen of the UK, but the queen of the commonwealth realm which includes, aus, nz, canada etc.

Hey, cool note!  That bit on the right looks pretty sweet.  Are they made of plastic now?

All the cool countries have green $20 notes with Lizzie on them:

So I guess when the Queen dies and the next person takes over you guys just have to reprint trillions of paper notes to put in circulation.  Thats where the Amazon is going.

The next pound should be printed with a TARDIS on the back side.

how often do notes change? not very often. i've never seen anyone anywhere state that people on a note must still be living. i very much doubt the sterling notes will be redesigned when the queen dies. if only for the fact that the british people would never want charles in their wallets.

you seem to spend a lot of your time playing with royal families and empires in your fantasy history games. for something you find so stupid, you sure are fixated with it.

IDK about the Canadian notes, but ours are made of some special plastic.  They last longer and allow more security features.

And nah, they'll probably just start printing King William (oh yes I did!) on the relevant notes & coins instead.

Thousands of people marched in Berlin, Munich and other German cities on Saturday in protest against a planned free trade deal between Europe and the United States that they fear will erode food, labor and environmental standards.

Opposition to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is particularly high in Germany, in part due to rising anti-American sentiment linked to revelations of U.S. spying and fears of digital domination by firms like Google.

A recent YouGov poll showed that 43 percent of Germans believe TTIP would be bad for the country, compared to 26 percent who see it as positive.

The level of resistance has taken Chancellor Angela Merkel's government and German industry by surprise, and they are now scrambling to reverse the tide and save a deal which proponents say could add $100 billion in annual economic output on both sides of the Atlantic.
I actually really liked when Obama announced this during the state of the union about 2-3 years ago. (I remember). I like trade deals. I support this deal.

How do you feel about this trade deal as well as the the Trans-Pacific Partnership that is also being negotiated?

the way it's set up is fucking stupid. there's a reason why similar laws were never implemented in domestic legislature.

This isn't the first multinational trade agreement whereby companies can supercede national laws in the name of business.  These deals pass (and this one will too) because capital interests are embedded in international politics.  It's been a while so I can't remember exact case studies but I remember one legal dispute about the use of pesticides in Mexico by a multinational.  Can't remember the details or what trade agreement it was under.  More of the same - it gets talked about in the media and then passes and everyone forgets about it until the next time.

No the specific clause on dispute resolution included a provision for companies to sue due to legislative effects on 'future profit earnings' is pretty dumb dumb.

That's the major clause that has people up in arms. The way the dispute resolution is set up is quite concerning, especially in terms of respects to national sovereignty.

It's just a clause for companies to bypass WTO arbitration and directly sue governments so they don't have to do this:

https://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/di … s434_e.htm

I'm all for free trade agreements, it's just certain ways they are set up that becomes an issue.

Copyright clause is also another one of concern.
