There is a new city builder out called Cities Skyline. It was released a few days ago and is made by the same people who made Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universals 4.

Definitely considering it, maybe next paycheck
it is really worth the money. I bought it yesterday and already dropped 10 hours into it
Just got Cities: Skylines today. Pretty freakin awesome. My last sim-type city game was SimCity 2000 so take that as you will.
I was debating between SimCity and this and finally decided on the latter. I'm sure I would have been happy with both, but my one major issue with SimCity was the inability to expand your current city. I realize you can build a new city but I didn't like the idea of starting over. There were pros do doing it with the specializations, but it didn't sway me enough.
