It doesn't matter how long ago Ukrainian became a nationality. They were a nation enough to no longer want be a part of the Soviet Union and the Russian empire. Twice eastern Europeans has shown that they don't want to be a part of the Russian world. Why can't Russia respect other's right to self determination?
how many people living in ukraine have you spoken to about this? how many of them told you they don't want to be a part of russia world?

A bunch? There are tons of Ukrainians on Reddit who post news and opinion from there. They even have their own subreddits. You aren't the only one who has escaped the gulag and found social media.

Do you have any proof Ukrainians want to be a part of Russia?

For a laugh I was listening to the Fox Sirius radio stations as I was driving to work yesterday. Goddamn, they've been so very consistent with their scaremongering over the past decade and a half. They were going on about how ISIS is ALREADY HERE AND THEY'RE GONNA BLOW UP THE COUNTRY SEPTEMBER 11. They were faulting Obama for not taking enough action to prevent our shitty house of cards we built in Iraq from being knocked over, and then in the very next segment interviewed the parents of a veteran who died and didn't want their sons death to be in vain. Come on guys, let's go get a couple thousand more Americans killed for some shithole in the desert we'll be bogged down in for years.

Certain people earn shit loads of money if we have soldiers over there.
Certain people own (or pay, or coerce, or brainwash) news stations to scare regular people into thinking we NEED to send troops there.
Regular people get scared shitless and don't realize those news stations are just a middle-man to make those certain people money.
?????
Certain people profit

I think Americans are too removed from the consequences of war, so "doing something" sounds easy.

I actually now agree with Shahter.
The UK now has a precedent for seizing naval bases/territory and supporting a de-facto civil war should Scotland vote for independence!
There are plenty of Scots who don't support the "yes" campaign, plus plenty more Englishman living there so fuck 'em.

No such thing as Ireland, it was always under the British crown.

Ireland isn't really a country.

Definitely. All war is to us is a massive black hole of money. It doesn't actually affect us in the slightest.

I blame violent videos games and movies. I don't think video games cause mass shootings but I think they desensitize people and normalize violence. And I say that as a big MMS fan .

It seems like only yesterday we were cheering on those noble freedom fighters as they cut out and ate the hearts of captured Syrian soldiers.

I have a confession to make. I don't care how many people ISIS kill in Iraq and Syria. It is probably a good thing they exist and I wish they would have overthrown Assad.

So Turkey decides to build a dam in Kurdish territory to provide electricity to the area. The PKK decides to burn their trucks. When the police come around to investigate, the PKK kills 4 police officers and kidnaps a fifth. Turkey responds by bombing the PKK in Iraq and Syria. How exactly is Turkey the bad guy here?

It is really frustrating hearing westerners jump to defend Kurdish separatism every time Turkey decides to defend itself from attacks. And it is selfish and ignorant of the U.S. and others to complain about Turkey not doing more to fight ISIS and forget about the decades of death caused by Kurdish separatist. I think most Americans only know about the Kurds due to Saddam gassing them and have built up this narrative in their minds of Kurds being the downtrodden and oppressed good guys in the middle east despite them having a problem with the government of every country they live in.

Sure the Kurds are fighting ISIS and Turkey is happy to let them mutually kill each other. That's perfectly reasonable from their perspective. Why does every westerner think the world has to bend over backwards to fight ISIS and its other enemies? Our entire response to ISIS has been melodramatic and knee jerky.
