If your case has both use HD. If your case only has AC97 use that.

i always just plugged all those headers in willy-nilly, and out of around 15 computers i've built, they always worked. so either i'm ridiculously lucky or it doesn't really matter all too much

I always wondered why cases never put all the front headers in a single block, since every board I've built for the last 6 years had them in the same spot.
Then I got an Asus board.
