HD audio or AC'97

I am rebuilding my system using a H81M-E ATX mobo
ok im done with everything but what about this part,
I have a cable that has both HD audio and AC'97

which one do I connect ?

The one that was connected to my old mobo was the AC'97

If your case has both use HD. If your case only has AC97 use that.

i am stuck on the last one

the mobo speaker

the speaker itself is labled pos and neg but the mobo does not have a label for pos and neg

which pin on the mobo is the pos, the far left ?

i always just plugged all those headers in willy-nilly, and out of around 15 computers i've built, they always worked. so either i'm ridiculously lucky or it doesn't really matter all too much

does it not give you a little diagram? either on the mobo or in the manual?

The switches can be reversed, so only 3/5 have a chance of being wrong.

I always wondered why cases never put all the front headers in a single block, since every board I've built for the last 6 years had them in the same spot.

Then I got an Asus board.
