Not gonna lie, docking was one of the hardest things in the game for me to learn. My first docking maneuver took me 6 hours real time and I ended up breaking both ships. That being said, I've got it down well enough now that I can usually dock in under one orbit. My record is 9 minutes

Honestly glad to offer any advice when it's needed

The actual docking is fine by me once you're within a couple kilometers, but the trick is efficiently getting to that point for me. My orbital gas station has got a pretty regular orbit at 120k with very little tilt, so it's fairly easy to get to. The controls for the actual docking setting are a bit crazy though, so I just stick to the normal setting.

Docking controls are actually incredibly useful once you know how to properly use them and have your RCS properly aligned with your cg. I'm honestly quite impressed that you've been docking without them

It's quite fun actually being forced to do some balls-out manual flying rather than relying on SAS. Making sure a shambly rocket doesn't kerplode on itself is rather gratifying, especially when my sandbox ones are all kitted out to do the very same missions.

Anyone still play Kerbal?

Fun little toy I made today. The SP24 operates like any normal SSTO space plane, but has the added function of the forward cockpit area detaching to be used as a lander on orbital bodies without atmosphere. Following its mission to the surface, the lander can return to orbit, couple with the main body and continue normal atmospheric operations, even landing on the runway at the KSC. I was actually quite impressed with how well it handles and preforms for a plane held together by by a single docking port.

Also built a pretty big docking station around Laythe as a go between for my colony and ships coming from the Kerbin system. Very fun to play around with, but the frame rate is like 2 fps with all those ships attached haha.

Seriously though, space planes aren't too difficult once you've got the basics down. Especially with the new rapier engines, those make it so easy its borderline cheating. Love to offer advice if anyone wants it.

So my new thing has been launching military ships, armed with light torpedoes and heavy missiles, and blowing shit up. Very very fun, I recommend everyone try it.
