You mean that EU3 had? I like it a bit better than EU3. I still miss having certain map overlays though. Hiding ongoing construction in a context menu makes it annoying to find out where you need to be building.

Yes EU3. Don't worry. They still have 3 rows full of map overlays that will be added in in DLC.

Is it just me or does the tech system make little sense now? If you spend MPs making war, colonizing, or building infrastructure, you are going to fall behind in those fields when it comes to tech. You should at least be able to use points across all techs while receiving a penalty for using the wrong points for something.

What do you like better?

I think the simplification works. You invest in three different kinds of tech. At certain points you can select new national idea branches. Spend so much in national ideas to increase your nation's culture level. I didn't have a problem picking it up at all. If you want to give a minor nation a bit of a boost so you can colonize more than two things without falling too far behind, you could always cheat.

I'm playing as a super charged CK2 Spain. Started with all of Iberia and Most of north Africa. I managed to quickly take most of SA and am moving up the coast of NA in 1548. Despite being the #1 and only colonial power I still can't make any carracks since my diplo tech is so lousy. I should have a naturally higher one since I am taking part in colonial expansion as opposed to a landlocked country doing nothing. I also started the game with a almost full formed HRE above me. It is still using Men at arms even though it has been at war with all of Europe since the game start since it uses MP points to fight the war. If you do a lot of something you should be rewarded in that field with experience. I like the simplification otherwise.

The squalor mechanic in Rome 2 is problematic. All populaces in the game seem to have the same high expectations regardless of your faction's lack of contact with the civilized world. This means that if you build a carpenter and a docks in the same city or something like that and your culture has no building to combat it, they're going to rebel in like 3-4 turns. Normally I'd think I was doing something wrong, but it's out of control. Which is really unfortunate because I was looking forward to using the whole Celtic confederacy gameplay. Now playing as Parthia instead, and fuck them if their tech tree is similarly handicapped.

Dishonored fails at the stealth route. The way the game calculates kills is so obscure that it seems there's no way to tell whether or not something has died until you end the area. I spent three hours on the first "assassination" mission only getting k.o.'s and making sure no unconscious bodies were left near water, ledges or where rats spawn. More time getting the little side quests and bonus objectives. Again, no kills. Branded the target rather than killing him for a non-lethal success. Hit the exit boat, and oh look at that, someone's died. I'm not replaying that mission.

The only other issue I can pick at where this game is concerned is its arbitrary stealth mechanic. There is absolutely no way to tell if a shadow is going to hide you or if you might as well be standing underneath the Vegas lights. That is, until an enemy spots you. Or doesn't. In Thief, this issue was resolved with a light level indicator telling you how well you're hidden. Dishonored copied Thief in so many other areas, that I'm amazed they didn't copy this good idea as well. I'd love to complete the game, but I'll probably move on and hold out for Thief 4.

Complete the game! one of my favourite games in a long time. I was actually disappointed when I completed it because it was the end of the game!

I did have issues with trying to do the initial breakout without killing anyone, same odd issue as you. Luckily that level is quite short, wouldn't fancy replaying some of them over and over trying to get no kills though!

Still, if you're ending up with dead people from knocking them out, just don't come in to contact with enemies at all :p

The k.o.'s are sometimes unavoidable. The three goons standing outside Granny Rags' place need to be killed or k.o.'d for her quest. If you don't kill or k.o. the patrolling guards inside the religious zealot building, they'll discover their boss strapped into the branding chair (you can't get him out after completing the non-lethal objective) and raise the alarm. And I haven't been able to rip off the key from the patrolling guard in the backyard without alerting his dog unless I dart them both.

I'd love to complete it but I need some time before I try that mission again.

You know you can still get the good ending with a few deaths right?

Why not just play the rest of it and come back to that level later?

Does anyone play Battle for Wesnoth? I have gotten to play this more and more. It is such a great, straightforward game.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
