It's been out for a little bit but in this article: Car & weapon customization; golf, tennis playing & parachuting; as well as the ability to buy properties, both home & business, have all been confirmed.

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/a … views.html

The video at the bottom in the article goes over the demo a little more in detail with what they saw and along with some of the pictures that have been released lately, scuba-diving and even underwater submersibles have been confirmed in the game as well

it does look good, but also looks like the controls/handling aren't so smooth. at least with the movement and aiming, anyway. and i don't like the new huge red/green crosshair you get with the sniper. looks bulky. i just hope the game 'feels' right, if you know what i mean. i hate games that handle shit.

I won't really be able to judge how the game handles properly until I play it, so
I'm trying to reserve judgement. As far as the sniper scope reticle, though, supposedly there's going to be deep weapons customization and hopefully that means different, varying scopes and crosshairs

i'm really glad they put the small customization and side-shit back in the game. gta4 felt so hollow and empty - like a new york with absolutely nothing to do. i spent most of my time in vice city and san andreas just finding cool/dumb motorcycle jumps, or hucking myself off the large mountain and watching shit blow up (me and some friends spent like 2 hours one time getting an articulated lorry all the way to the top-- worth it), or else driving nice cars from the car garage(s) you owned around the city, joyriding... or even just doing the rounds of your assets, collecting and stockpiling cash (that you were never going to spend). stuff like that which made the world feel 'real', textural, something to actually play in. had none of that in gta iv really, none of that sense of a real character. being able to save a few vehicles in a bay-parking space was lame. i liked owning a mansion that i'd keep all my favourite cars in, in pride of place.

might even have to rebuy a console to experience this game.

i hope the driving more than anything has improved from 4, for a GTA game it just felt completely shit

I love the homage they paid to the movie Heat with that truck heist.

i like how all of the GTA games are long homages/pastiches of certain settings/eras and their clichés. it's completely high-camp but makes it even more fun.

Looks amazing!

I wonder if the characters actually do have lives outside of what you are doing, or if when you jump in to them, it quickly sets up something and they don't exist when they aren't near you

the characters probably 'live lives' in the same way side-characters 'lived' in gta4.

i.e. every 5 minutes: HEY WE'RE GOING BOWLING WANNA COME? Y/N

HEY MAN LET'S GO PLAY SOME DARTS!!!!

i can't imagine it would be all that richly realized - what's the point? it would eat so much processing power and memory to literally keep 2 other characters running around doing stuff in the game-world, getting chased by police (as the game trailer implied with the redneck guy) and having entire social escapades. it'll probably just about be good enough to make it immersive.

the 3 characters/switch focalized-perspective thing seems interesting. better twist than the usual '3 mini-stories in one' structure to story arcs. but to me it's like when you have a few sims characters that you can switch between: you tend to only want to spend all your time with your favourite, anyway. collecting 3 wallets/gun collections, 3 sets of assets, 3 sets of nice cars for 3 sets of character garages, etc. could get a bit irksome.

Damn I hated those phonecalls!

I was thinking they could have it 'sim' in the background, but not actually need to keep them in the game world. A bit like how in football manager it comes up with scores/transfers etc in the background but they aren't actually taking place

That's pretty much what I assumed would happen. When you want to swap characters, that zoom out screen gives the game time to load the character in a scenario where they would likely be found. I doubt all 3 will be persistent the whole game

First one I've seen that I've actually been tempted by. I hope it doesn't have the constant phone calls I've heard people gripe about.

It seemed to me, that were constantly nagging you with those phone calls to ensure that you went on those silly 'buddy' pastimes.
The same was with that online dating mission, which was basically made to have your avatar use the in-game internet more.

I really hope they do it properly again like in San Andreas, where there were countless things to do, that weren't even mentioned anywhere.
You just stumbled across them.
In that respect, they should go much more for an RPG game, in terms of side quests, random encounters and odd jobs.

And they will go that route as a matter.
I want the Phantom.. Hookers and Massive B radio or 50 troll accounts on metacritic will be my legacy.
