So they're doing their big new website launch at the moment, I'm sure there'll be lots of great news coming out over the next day or so. In the meantime here's some images I scrounged up of what is allegedly the Idris Corvette - which at the moment is probably the biggest ship you can buy and own, (though not the biggest ship you can operate or be on.) The Starfarer may be bigger but that's a tanker so it doesn't count.

The Idris Corvette houses up to eight crew and even has a hangar where you can store two one-man sized ships, (Hornet, 300 Series, Aurora, etc.)

Not the kind of ship I'd be keen to own myself but an exciting thing to have in the game.

You can buy one if you have a spare $1500.

It amazes me how much some people have spent on fictional ships in an unreleased game. And this is coming from someone who has spent just over $200 buying three ships himself, (300i, Hornet, and Aurora LX.) I have joined a Star Citizen gaming group, (Blue Horizon,) and I know one person there who has bought:

- 1x Aurora
- 3x Aurora LX
- 7x 300 Series
- 3x M50
- 1x Avenger
- 1x Hornet
- 3x Constellation + P52
- 1x Freelancer
- 1x Cutlass
- 1x Vanduul Scythe
- 1x Gladiator
- 1x Catapiller
- 2x Starfarer
- 6x Retaliator
- 4x Idris Corvette

Four of those behemoths I posted above! The Corvettes alone cost this guy $5500 (one of them was bought during the initial pledge period as part of a package so I believe it was $500 cheaper.) I don't understand how some people firstly find the money and secondly manage to justify that amount. Especially when you consider all the ships can be earned in-game.

I'd say most big spenders contributed less to get ships and more because they want to see the game as its promised be made. Whether the game sucks or not is subjective and will be determined essentially by how closely the image backers have of it compares to the image the developers have of it.

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people with severe buyers remorse already judging by the cost of some of those packages though.

if you'd asked me for $5000 before bf2's release i would have said 'no'. who the fuck forwards $5k towards a game? jesus i remember the days when people would complain about a game having a retail price of £50. crowd-sourcing is a web2.0 gimmick that lets shit projects get off the ground that would never find expert/industry investment, or else rips off people's good faith to fund shit that should be kept business-side.
