depends how you define something as abstract and nebulous as 'freedom', yes.

if it literally means 'no state interference' then yes, probably.

'freedom' doesn't correlate with 'standard of living' though.

Conservative states have more freedom apparently, due to laws, policies and tax burdens.  Hadn't ever thought about it in those terms but interesting I think.  Click on the states to see a more in depth explanation for the rankings.
Victimless Crime Freedom (9.8%), Gun Control Freedom (6.6%), Tobacco Freedom (4.1%), Alcohol Freedom (2.8%), Marriage Freedom (2.1%), Marijuana and Salvia Freedom (2.1%), Gambling Freedom (2.0%), Education Policy (1.9%), Civil Liberties (0.6%), Travel Freedom (0.5%), Asset Forfeiture Freedom (0.1%), and Campaign Finance Freedom (0.02%).
Gun control is weighted 11 times that of civil liberties and 3 times more important then marriage and education freedoms.

neo-liberal right-wing thinktank funded by koch brothers produces results and definitions of 'freedom' that compliment right-wing conservative world-views in breaking news shocker.

The real question is, why aren't they called "Education Policy Freedom" and "Civil Liberties Freedom?"

ffs

What does "Victimless Crime Freedom" even mean?

NJ has the second highest median income but is one of the top 5 least free places. Strange that I don't feel oppressed.
