tampa is a great hub for graduate employment. a girl i got with once in university ended up moving there to do finance. my uncle just sold his whole business here in the UK and moved to somewhere between tampa and orlando, working in real estate as well. i was going to go over at the start of this year, but florida doesn't really appeal to me as somewhere to work.
The police commisioner in St. Pete actually fired some detectives last year for ignoring the 4th amendment or something and raiding a growhouse. The biggest problem in Tampa Bay is prescription drugs. I think Florida is either number 1 or 2 in the country for pills. People come from all of the country to buy them here. But yes, its not like Washington or Massachusetts. You dont want to get in trouble here.
As for the number one place to live, I dunno. I've never lived in NYC or Jersey. A lot of kids here would like to escape.

from what experience i have of america, it seems everyone with even the lowest-tier job drives, everywhere. in the UK everyone is pretty happy using public transport (in cities, anyway), so you get a real cross-section. in america, it seems car ownership is mandatory (especially in outer-city areas). so i'm guessing you see a lot of fights on public transport like buses because it's generally only the poor and troubled who use that shit often. you live there though. you should be able to provide a better answer. email your response asap.
