I bet the arms industry sent out a hitman to silence him.
There's quite a few in Northern Ireland, and I can point you to a Chief Constable who woke up to find himself mysteriously dead

That and Israel doesn't hesitate to kill journalists, nor did the Bush regime.

Your best example of someone who "ought to be killed" by your standards is Julian Assange, yet he's still doing pretty well.

Zique: I was talking more about the behavioral aspects of the "arts." And that black kid could play the sax pretty well.
i'm an arts scholar and i don't really know what the "behavioral aspects of the arts" are, sorry.

or are you using a TED talks style constructed dichotomy between 'creatives' and 'rationals'? because both are a myth. as if a creative person, or the creation of a work of art or writing of great literature, doesn't require a great intuitive grasp of logic and structure.
Well as you previously stated having those arts classes do help with the behavioral problems of those inner city kids, instead of trying to force them to learn things give them art programs so they can relieve some of their anxiety and what not.

and i dunno about layers and journalists - i'm sure a fair share of those have been killed, it's just that your media doesn't find that very interesting - but i heard one the us presidents got assassinated. made huge impact and is still "unsolved".

one of them was a defector from a secret service agency - a traitor as we call them here - and another was a crime lord who run away. i'd have no problem with them rotting away in prison, but i'll take what i can get, thank you very much.

so, nothing about magnitsky either? i thought so.

a crushing blow to the arts there, dismissing them on the basis of their uselessness. the whole point of art is to be as useless as possible. another great poster with a clearly superlative understanding of what arts are.

I have a friend with a BFA in ceramics... pottery isn't art?

making pottery is considered a craft. there's nobody saying you can't get a qualification in pottery.

and yes, if he went to an art school to make ceramics, chances are he's trying to make pottery into an art.

dilbert was talking about high-school pottery making lessons. it's not quite the same aesthetic endeavour.

Actually, she sells advertising now. No one finds work in their field with a BFA in ceramics, come on

I asked her if she had any experience with industrial ceramics and she looked at me like I had two heads, like she didn't even realize the field existed. Kind of funny actually, those guys make baaaaank.

actually the reason ceramics and pottery is mostly considered a craft is because 90% of people who are trained in ceramics make the sort of pottery that becomes household furniture or decoration. this is precisely what makes it a 'craft' pursuit and not an 'artform'. most woodworkers, metalworkers, ceramics makers etc. all build objects that have a function or sale-value before an aesthetic criterion.  that's the distinction between arts and crafts. whether or not fine art qualifications in america connects well to america's job market is neither here nor there.

merry reading, cybargs.

I did pottery my first year in high school. There were 2 classes of 30 kids each period. Did bookmaking my second year. There was only 1 class with 6 people. I would have done accounting my junior but they cut it for lack of participation.
