folkish/ein volkish nature-harvest ritual stuff that white western people do in the spring. i do not like it.

however, i will not call everyone who does it and who wants to preserve this folk tradition "gay". and, furthermore, and more importantly, it has not been historically used as a form of protest or white struggle. quite different from my example of house and techno music and its relation to the history of african american culture.

this really is quite simple.
"Gay as a maypole" is a phrase though, but from a quick google it appears to mean "gay" as in "joyful" or "glee"

Bright were the days at Merry Mount, when the Maypole was the banner staff of that gay colony

i also find black history month ridiculous. i always have done. stupid positive discrimination.

what's that got to do with stating there is a history of african american culture? wanting to eliminate race altogether is just the latest liberal strategy to 'overcome' america's historic race stratification. luther king when he said "we are all created equal" was making a statement of social right and opportunity. denying a certain race or class's culture is inane. every social group or sub-culture has its own culture.

these people were all progressives. they all wanted black equality. 'there is no african american culture'? lol. jesus fucking christ. i really don't know why this is a point of contention.

Morgan Freeman laid down the chips on the Tea Party in a new interview with Piers Morgan that is due to air Friday night.

The Oscar-winning actor sat down with the British TV host and, amongst other things, discussed his belief that the right wing Tea Party's anti-Obama stance is rooted in racism.

When asked by Morgan whether Obama's presidency has made racism in the United States better or worse, Freeman, who once played apartheid-defying South African president Nelson Mandela, frankly stated that his time in office has made it worse, as he has become a target of the right's aggression.

"Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," the actor said. "What’s, what does that, what underlines that? 'Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.'"

Declaring once again that "it's a racist thing," Freeman said the group's rise has shown the hate still lingering in America.

You know, it's funny, you're the first one to go off on a rant if an American traces their genealogy and says they're x% Irish, y% German but you think it's a-ok for roc to focus on his own racial roots like it's his job. No one ever said that black-centric culture hasn't cropped up all throughout American history, but you're under the false impression that it impacted everyone. Honestly, no one in New York gives a fuck what goes on in Detroit. I showed you the map the other day, America is big. It would be like you obsessing over or caring what happens in Riga. Do you care about Riga? It's part of Europe and you are white. Does it impact your life?

Roc lives on Long Island, in New York. I don't know him personally, but I know him well enough to know that he goes to basically an all-white (because it's an expensive-ass private school) college in the suburbs of Long Island and he seems to be perfectly fine with that. Now you're trying to say that he shouldn't be because of his skin color. Racist.

lol yeah i said he shouldn't go to his college because he is black. right. i really said that.

detroit/chicago's musical and social legacy has a massive impact here, now, in london. in berlin. in europe, yes. it also has a direct impact on the new york house scene. just because you don't know what you're talking about, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, jay. i said it is funny that he dissed the legacy of a sort of music that went out of its way to fight for the rights/recognition of people of his colour. i think pointing out that small irony is quite different from saying "you should only go to a black southern college, only listen to atlanta rap music, and only eat KFC and watermelons". i am not being racist by saying it is ironic to diss something that tried to positively help the cultural history of his race. you are being thick.

here's another analogy: if a woman today said that suffragettes, who protested (and died) for their right to vote, were "lol gay" or "stupid lesbians", that would be ironic, yes? it would imply, as i've said four times now, a level of historical ignorance or self-loathing - those are the logical explanations. i could point it out, laugh, and say, hahaha, that's ironic. you're being stupid. now, is that the same thing as me saying: STFU bitch get back in the kitchen before i rape your inferior small-brained ass. no, it's not. you are being thick.

and yeah, i do think it's silly when white dude's get together to compare their family trees from 400 years ago. know why? most of you have never been to europe, and it has no bearing whatsoever on your lives. are you saying the struggle for racial equality and social justice in 20th cenutry america has no bearing on black people's lives? ok. same thing, right. 400 year old genealogies - music made as part of social foment 20 years ago. same thing.

Adelphi is very diverse, there are many minorities and ethnic backgrounds even among the whites and there is an  African-American society. Also I live on NYC now and got through school on grants and loans so I paid about half of what the tuition actually is.

hahahaha jay you racist. thinking roc's school must be "mostly all white" because it is "expensive". are you trying to say all black people are poor? or can't afford to get into expensive private schools? hahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahaha

oh, you!

Race / Ethnicity
Asian/Pacific Islanders     7.1%
Black     10.5%
Hispanic     12.6%
Native American     0.2%
White     53.9%
Two or More     2.7%
Non-residents     3.1%

adelphi actually is more diverse and racial than the american average. only 53% whities compared to a 72.5% national average.

seems like jay is the one who is racist, here. not me, taking an interest in black-struggle music. jay, who assumes black people can't get into private colleges (even ones who: "For the sixth year, Adelphi University has been named a “Best Buy” in higher education by the Fiske Guide to Colleges.")

I haven't been on the campus in like fifteen years, sue me. They were more well known for their lacrosse team than anything else back then, and the campus was almost wholly white.

whatever, jay 'blacks can't afford private college' schubert.

and don't backtrack on this, you wealth-obsessed classist racist fuck. your justification wasn't "i don't know him that well, but i've been to his campus and i know it's a mostly white school". your ratiocination was "i know he goes to an expensive-ass school, so it must be mostly white". LOL. you fucking nazi bender.

You missed the point completely. Black people that have enough money to attend private colleges will go to better schools than Adelphi. Adelphi was the fallback school for Long Island kids that had money but didn't really want to move very far away from home. They have dorms, but the kids are a half hour from home in most cases.
