BBC just released an article that he has been found alive on the mountain but in really poor shape.
It's a different climber, but here is the article.
It is his own fault, this is why everyone should carry a lightweight plastic sled while climbing Everest. This way when something goes wrong you can just jump on the sled and be down in minutes.atlvolunteer wrote:
Yeah, I heard about that. Pretty fucked up that people would go by him without trying to help...
From the sounds of it you could probably just find a frozen dead person and use them as a sled now.
This amazes me that someone would focus on this story this much.
Lets keep in mind peopel that thousands a day and already HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS have been brutally murdered in Sudan, not to mention the on going civil war in the Congo.
Why don't people write stories on this, the same analogy could be used here as with the 40 climbers passing by. The world has looked over this, and pushed it aside as they continue to ry and not mention it.
A lot of you need to get out more and look at the REAL issues in our world. Not some dumbass who basically had a deathwish and climbed Everest alone.

While you do have a good point, genocide, murder, inequality, the human condition, indifference, murder, rape, theft, etc, etc, etc are all common topics, at least around the bf2s forums, if that's where you're directing this. I don't post often, but I read most everything in the serious section of the forums, and because I posted about this story doesn't mean I ignore the rest of the bs.|Vap0rXX| wrote:

In relation to your statement, however, I DO try to take in news from 3-4 different sources a day (providing I have time), and today I read about the Chechan sentenced to life in prison today for his role in the hostage situation that took 300+ lives when the law moved in on them (the hostage takers), but I don't remember ever hearing about the event itself when it happened...

I know this is an old thread, but I'm new here so here's my 2cp:
One man tries to climb Everest alone and dies in the process? Thinning of the gene pool, a good candidate for a Darwin award.
Think of it this way-- he died doing what he loved. Hopefully he was on the way down.
