i think this silly 'mine is bigger than yours' tangent can be put to bed fairly early. you've got that old timer's rose-tinted nostalgia, and an over-belief in your abilities. you're getting old. you're fat. you don't live a healthy lifestyle. it doesn't pay to start these dumb "i've still got it, young 'un!" arguments. i am 23. i would embarrass you. and then finger your wife.

the actual "problem" is that you don't seem to realize when you've had more a healthy amount of daily sugar intake, and to stop drinking just-because "it tastes good", or tickles your brain receptors, again. you don't need 4 large cokes a day. you are taking years off your life for the most transient of pleasures.

Lol.

Well, I'm off to bed. Better hope that the nanny's of London don't pass laws telling people to go to bed at a proper hour, I hear there's a public epidemic of insomnia that needs combatting!

Uzique, you have to realise this is someone who believes in limited government but was happy enough to leech off of it due to an overbloated military budget and unfunded war.

Dude, its a fucking CUP OF SODA.  You know damn well they subsidize the fuck out of it, the sugar, the multinational soda beverage corporation, all the way through the fast food world to the consumer.  You know damn well they would sell you gallons of it at a time at a cheap price if it were physically feasible.  You are pretending that having an unhealthy and unnatural diet is a lifestyle choice when you just gave an excellent example of how the media manipulates/incentivizes/shames people into doing things they are not rationally thinking about.  You just demonstrated exactly what uzique was describing a few posts back.

You are a libertarian, so you already know the FDA/regulations/environmental protections/legal system already control what you intake.  You are acting as if "this is the last straw, after this is gov't tyranny" when all you've offered in defense of that argument is that you feel bad for being fat.  Jesus H Fuckin Christ

Tell that to the (Republican) sugar industry.  There's plenty of them right here in Florida.  The party of no-government-for-inner-city-black-people proudly mooches off the government when it benefits their corner of the market?  Blasphemy!!  This should be in the news somewhere!

Pretty sure not more than 10 years ago it was that way just across the howard franklin bridge... Hell, it still may be.

Bravo Mr Literature

Theres a good amount of scientific evidence that a persons adult weight is mostly set before they are born - by the parents genes and the mothers diet before and during pregnancy.
Most of the rest of it is sealed during the first four years of childhood. Obviously the sort of obscene gluttony seen in Western countries adds to it.

I couldn't care really, except for the points that its unfair for a child to be doomed to a short and unhealthy life simply because his/her parents are greedy ill-educated dumbfucks, and that gross overconsumption is destroying the planet much faster than we need to.

If adults choose to overeat its their problem, they'll die young, and are more likely to suffer from debilitating problems solely due to their weight.
And are more likely to be injured in car crashes and other accidents.

Corporations have entirely fucked the food chain, getting people hooked on HFCS and unbalancing their diabetic system as kids as dead level with handing out cigarettes to third world school-children - and yet its legal because the Sugar lobby utterly owns the govt.

Are you helpless? Can you not make your own decisions? Do you have to buy soda? Do you have to buy any type of food? No. The government does not control what I eat beyond regulating certain things like raw milk out of existence (or in California, foie gras).

Yes, they subsidize the shit out of corn, and thus corn syrup, so what? I don't agree with the subsidies, and it doesn't force me to eat anything with those products. I can go to Whole Foods or Fairway and buy organic gluten-free HFCS-free taste-free food all I want. No one is putting a gun to my head and limiting my options. You act like you have no control over your life. That's sad.

Thanks bud.

We have a pretty stiff tariff on sugar imports which protects the raw sugar producers in south Florida and Hawaii. I guess spearhead assumes it's still in place because the sugar producers donate heavily to the Republican party. At this point it has more to do with the corn producers not wanting as much competition for their corn syrup, which is why it's in basically all our sweetened processed foods instead of sugar.

lol jay's fat denial is funny. he makes out that exercise and "marathon running" or jogging is psychopathic, and will snidely comment on healthy food and the wiser options being 'boring' or "taste free". then he gets surprised and butthurt when people are equally dismissive or prejudicial about his fat-hog herd kin.
